Ljubljana – Arrive in Ljubljana and Explore with a Walking Tour
The center of Ljubljana shimmers with emerald-green leaves that line the banks of the Ljubljanica River, while cobbled squares and narrow alleys open to the tranquil water that winds through the heart of the city among a mixture of elegant bridges, flickering lampposts, and sophisticated architecture. Your private transfer will greet you at Ljubljana Joze Pucnik Airport upon your arrival and escort you to the comforts of your luxurious accommodation in the inviting city center. The daily farmer’s market fills Vodnik Square with colorful produce and the aromas of forest berries, honey, and homemade cheese.
You will meet your guide in your hotel’s lobby for a private tour of Ljubljana, which is also the charming capital of Slovenia. The area around the present city of Ljubljana has been populated since the Bronze Age, when the earliest known settlement consisted of wooden houses on stakes. In 1335, Ljubljana came under Austrian Habsburg rule, which lasted until 1918. Touches of the opulent design from the Habsburg rule remain in the guise of the Ljubljana Castle, which crowns the eastern hill at 1,230 feet above sea level. A wrought-iron staircase winds to the top of the watchtower, offering marvelous views across Old Town and the soothing water of the river.

Zicasso's travel specialist, specifically Zicasso's travel agency, was fantastic! This travel specialist tailored our trip based on our conversations. She was thorough in her communications and provided us with excellent recommendations, along with top-notch arrangements.
We had one minor issue at our hotel, and she was quick to respond and successfully resolve it to our satisfaction. We would highly recommend this travel specialist for anyone traveling to Croatia and the surrounding area. When we return to Croatia, we will use her to help us plan another perfect trip! We were very pleased with all the arrangements that Zicasso's travel specialist made for us. Everything went smoothly and her recommendations as we planned the trip were right on. We might have cut our time in Ljubljana short if she hadn't suggested we stay two nights, and what a mistake that might have been! She knows the area and was extremely helpful in helping us form our itinerary, and she kept in touch electronically during the week in case we needed anything or had any questions. We were impressed with her service!
All the drivers were prompt, pleasant, and careful drivers. The local guides were good. I must mention we especially appreciated our guide in Pula, a mine of information on the history! And our guide at Lake Bled; she was informative and personable, thinking even to bring snacks and hot tea for a cool morning hike!

Zicasso’s travel specialist created a memorable and nearly stress-free trip for us. I can’t recommend this travel specialist’s services highly enough. She made getting from place to place easy and the local guides she chose were terrific. We saw so many places we would not have known about if it weren’t for the travel specialist and enjoyed them so much more because of our local guides

I told Zicasso’s travel specialist that my husband and I enjoyed food, wine, and culture, and he delivered in spades.
We experienced several different types of wineries and food tours/meals—from market tours to small wine tastings and meals in family-run farms and seaside, seafood gems. We had no idea that Croatia was such a foodie haven!
We especially enjoyed the smaller towns and Krka. Our guides and our drivers were very knowledgeable about the area and history, and we learned a lot. Generally, we liked Dubrovnik better than Split, as Split seemed a little more geared toward younger partiers, but we did have some amazing meals there.
Overall, we had an incredible 30th-anniversary trip to Croatia and would definitely recommend Zicasso’s tour operator.
