Detailed Description

Turkey cascades with classic sights, the landscape imbued with 4,000 years of eclectic history. Troy, Ephesus, Istanbul, the Silk Road, the chimneys of Cappadocia; a  collection of eclectic destinations takes you on a journey through the ages, your expert guide joining up the narratives from Greek and Roman, to Byzantine and Ottoman. Over these 11 days you will soak up the beauty of the country's most iconic sights, and it's not just archaeology and history. Traditions live on in cute villages, bazaars bristle with vibrancy, thermal baths imbue new tones, and beaches offer a change of pace. Starting in Ankara and Cappadocia, you cross the Greco Roman allure of Turkey before finishing the trip in the irresistible city of Istanbul.

Start in Ankara, where the mausoleum of Ataturk and a quaint Ottoman house begin the historical musing. This first day takes you to the ethereal valleys of Cappadocia, the weird chimneys and troglodyte dwellings an idyllic backdrop for the first three nights. Hidden amongst the panoramic beauty are underground cities, fresco suffused churches cut into the rock, and villages of longstanding tradition. After your international flight, these are three relaxed days in spellbinding surroundings. From here you pick up the old Silk Road, following the caravansary trail before meandering to the white thermal pools of Pamukkale. Ancient cities cover the landscape, standing proud on mountain tops and screaming of a kingdom's power. Hierapolis, Aphrodisias, Pergamum; throughout this itinerary there are many stops that unveil the revered images from Greek mythology. Wonderfully preserved, the temples and columns showcase an architectural splendor that has survived 3,000 years.

From the beach resort town of Kusadasi you explore the vast remains of Ephesos, the history mixing with sand and sea in the afternoons. Nearby Troy was always considered a myth, until the city was “discovered” and excavated 150 years ago. It's deserving of its fame, a vast quarry of ruins in various states of decay and recovery. And yes, that includes a famous sculpted horse. Cruise across the Dardanelles and complete this handcrafted adventure in Istanbul. Its famous sights need little introduction; the Blue Mosque, the Hagia Sofia, the Grand Bazaar, palaces stuffed with sultans' opulent treasures. They epitomize the appeal of Istanbul, combining visual splendor with an endearing atmosphere that transcends cultural differences. With two guided days you see the famous and well-known, but also the local side to a city that unifies two continents.

Turkey Trip Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya, Kaymakli Underground City, Turquoise Coast, Balloon Ride, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel specialist planned a wonderful private itinerary for me and my parents, covering Istanbul, Cappadocia, Antalya, and many locations in between. There was incredible variety; we saw mosques and bazaars, took a boat along the Turquoise Coast, visited an underground city, and rode in balloons.

One of my parents has mobility issues and the travel specialist and our guide made great efforts to accommodate. They were also open to feedback and made quick adjustments throughout the trip, where necessary. Our guide was constantly available, which made our journey very comfortable and easy. This was the trip of a lifetime and a special memory for my family.

Turkey Vacation Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Basilica Cistern, Bosphorus Cruise, Hot-Air Balloon Ride, Dinner at Agent's Home, Underground City, 12 Nights

This was my second Zicasso trip, the first being to Peru in 2024, so I had full confidence in their travel company and was delighted by the level of care and attention to detail throughout the trip.

I essentially had three trips while in Turkey. I arrived a day early to attend a six-day cooking school that was independently arranged. The travel company smoothly organized my airport pickup and first-night hotel. After the cooking school, I was again booked in the original hotel (old town, close to major sites, clean, nice), and my daughter joined me for a week-long tour of Istanbul, Cappadocia, and Ephesus.

The guides in each region were knowledgeable, though we could have made do with fewer facts (height in meters of the Blue Mosque, area in square meters of Hagia Sophia, number of sheep in the country) and had more free time to explore on our own. We loved the major Istanbul sites, the Bosphorus cruise, and lunch on the Asia side. We were delighted with our cave hotel in Cappadocia and the hot-air balloon ride on my daughter's birthday. We loved strolling through Ephesus.

All the internal flights were arranged, booked, and checked in by the agent, so all we had to do was show up on time. The vans that transported us were clean and nice, with good drivers. After my daughter left, I was booked for three nights on a gulet, with stops on the Mediterranean. It was a nice way to slow down and finish the busy trip.

The highlight of my travels was dinner at my agent's home with his lovely family. He even arranged for me to find some earrings like those of his mother, which I had admired, and then drove me to the airport. Above and beyond!

Turkey Trip Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, 5 Nights

Our journey through Istanbul and Cappadocia with Zicasso’s travel company was truly exceptional—one of those rare travel experiences where everything comes together with ease, depth, and meaning.

From the very beginning, the planning was thoughtful and responsive, and once we arrived, every detail unfolded seamlessly. The itinerary struck a perfect balance between structure and flexibility, allowing us to explore deeply, while still feeling relaxed and present in each moment.

What made this trip especially memorable were our two outstanding guides—our guides in Istanbul and our guide in Cappadocia. Their deep knowledge of history, culture, and local context brought each site to life in a way that no guidebook could. Even more impressive was their genuine enthusiasm and willingness to engage with our questions, creating rich, meaningful conversations throughout the journey.

Behind this seamless experience was an exceptional team. We would like to especially recognize the company’s owner and his trusted partner in Turkey. Their leadership, coordination, and commitment to excellence were clearly reflected in every detail of our trip.

We also want to extend our appreciation to the entire support team—the professional drivers and the airport staff who welcomed us with name signs and ensured smooth, effortless transitions from airport to hotel and between destinations. These thoughtful touches made us feel well cared for at every step of the journey.

While our hot-air balloon ride in Cappadocia was unfortunately canceled due to weather, the situation was handled with clarity and professionalism. In hindsight, it simply gives us a perfect reason to return.

If there is one thing we would do differently, it would be to stay longer.

We wholeheartedly recommend the travel company to anyone seeking a well-curated, enriching, and truly memorable journey.

Egypt, Turkey Travel Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Cairo, Luxor, Private Guides, 2 Weeks

Our journey through Turkey and Egypt in May 2025 with Zicasso's travel company was nothing short of spectacular. From the moment we landed until our final departure, every detail was thoughtfully arranged, making the experience seamless, immersive, and truly unforgettable.

What set this trip apart was our exceptional tour guides. In both countries, the guides were not only incredibly knowledgeable, but also passionate, warm, and attentive. They brought the rich histories of Istanbul, Cappadocia, Ephesus, Cairo, Luxor, and beyond vividly to life. Whether we were exploring ancient ruins or navigating vibrant bazaars, our guides made every moment engaging and meaningful.

A special mention must go to our tour organizer. His behind-the-scenes coordination, quick responsiveness, and personal care were evident throughout. He ensured every transition was smooth, every need was anticipated, and every traveler felt individually looked after. His dedication and professionalism elevated the entire experience.

We returned home with a deeper appreciation of these remarkable destinations, lasting memories, and a strong desire to travel again with our travel company. We highly recommended them for anyone seeking a thoughtfully curated, high-touch travel experience.

Turkey, Greece Vacation Review: Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kusadasi, Santorini, Crete, Local Cuisine, Immersive Cooking Experiences, 3 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent cares passionately about his clients. I used his company for a three-week Aegean odyssey in March-April 2025. My special request was to have a meal with a local family in their home. He arranged for immersive cooking with two families in Türkiye and Greece. He has an outstanding roster of local guides who provided private tours in Istanbul, Cappadocia, Kuşadası, Santorini, and Crete. All the guides were personable and knowledgable, and we had fun with day(s) filled with laughter. I mentioned to one that the hotel was going to charge 50 euros for laundry. He arranged his local laundry to do it for less than $10.

Our travel company pays attention to details, having the influence to get me upgraded rooms with spectacular balcony views of the Parthenon and Aegean Sea. The hotels were in strategic locations, with easy walking to restaurants, shopping, and points of interest. He ensured I had “fast pass”, so I went into the shorter security lanes at the airports. The vehicles were either Mercedes-Benz vans, sedans, or other nice SUVs for more room and better views.

For me, it is when things go sideways that one learns the value of a good travel specialist. On the day I was to fly from Athens to Santorini, all the transportation workers in Greece went on strike for 24 hours. There were no planes or ferries. That causes cascading problems. My agent arranged for me to spend the extra night in the same Athens hotel, got a new flight to Santorini the next day, even though the flights were very full, had the room ready for me in Santorini when I arrived early in the morning, and had the transfers waiting for me. I did not worry, as I knew I would be taken care of. The day before the strike, I was talking with other tourists who were scrambling to make arrangements when the internet and phone lines were jammed. The peace of mind was immeasurable.
