Detailed Description

French Polynesia offers an idyllic paradise to relax and explore at your preferred pace during your 8-day Bora Bora itinerary. Ancient history overlooks the turquoise lagoon. Coral reefs radiate rainbow hues against the vibrant schools of fish. The cuisine is as bright as the flowers, and the people are as welcoming as the waters. The fun and excitement begin with your arrival at Bora Bora Airport. Your private transfer will escort you from the main island shores to your secluded resort located on the sands of a motu, an islet around the lagoon. You settle into the comforts of your overwater bungalow before an introductory tour around the coastline. Here you will discover ancient archaeological sites connected to the first Polynesian settlers on the island.

Following your overwater stay, you return to the shores of the main island to board a 4x4 jeep. Cruise along the coastal roads to find World War II weaponry and villages working to weave sarongs. You venture to the plateau beneath Mount Otemanu’s peak for a stunning view of the island, and then follow your guide on a snorkeling tour around the island’s most celebrated reefs. Swim with schools of curious fish before finding sharks and manta rays near the drop-off.

The following day, wake up to a luxurious canoe breakfast, complete with a traditional Polynesian ceremony accompanied by fresh flowers. Enjoy a bike ride or lounge on the beach before embarking on a sunset cruise. Relish the majesty of a Bora Bora sunset from atop an outrigger canoe before delighting in a sumptuous dinner at a seaside restaurant. The next day, you venture to the main town of Vaitape to visit the Lagoonarium, a natural aquarium. Snorkel with the stunning marine life found in the lagoon. In the evening, you will learn the history and traditions of French Polynesian cuisine and how it differs from the gastronomy of other Pacific islands.

The adventure continues as you traverse the trails of the mainland to find the Valley of the Kings and then continue until you reach the plateau of Mount Pahia. An exciting jet ski excursion brings you back to the water on the following day. Your guide will lead you around the island, speeding across the lagoon. In the afternoon, you slow the pace down with a smooth parasailing experience, enjoying a final panorama of the island. On your last day, your private transfer greets you at the resort and escorts you to Bora Bora Airport for your flight home.

French Polynesia Travel Review: Bora Bora, Taha'a, Tahiti,...

This was one of the top three vacations of my life, and I've been lucky enough to go on many holidays over my 65 years. From the hotels we stayed at to the food at the resorts and the people at the resorts and in public, everything was perfect.

We had a little snafu at the beginning when our flight was canceled and we ended up leaving 24 hours later, but that had nothing to do with the Zicasso travel company, and after one quick phone call, the itinerary was adjusted to our new day and time of arrival.

Drivers met us at hotels and airports when they were supposed to, hotel rooms were available and ready when they should have been, and our organized trips went off like a dream. A helicopter tour of one of the islands was canceled due to the airport being closed and we received a refund within days of our return.

The resorts in Bora Bora and Taha'a were particularly nice; great choices!!
