Detailed Description

Beyond the glories of Rome and the Canals of Venice stand the treasures of Italy’s southern coastline found along the Tyrrhenian Sea. Your 9-day tour of Italy blends the fame of the Amalfi Coast with the undiscovered charms of the captivating seaside towns in Calabria ready to be cherished. The pristine beauty of turquoise water accentuates the history of seafarers and fishers, antique battles, and recovered antiquity. From the most westerly town on the Amalfi Coast to the southern tip of Reggio Calabria, you will find distinctive towns climbing up the rugged mountains of overlooking the coastline and nestling against the water with seasoned stone walls.

Bask in your introduction to the splendors of Southern Italy’s coastline upon your arrival in Positano, a popular town acting as the beginning of the Amalfi Coast in the west. Five nights spent in a luxurious hotel overlooking the famous shoreline immerses you in the indelible charms connecting the diverse cities separated by mountain promontories and the sea. The streets become historic labyrinths of homes and restaurants. Massive towers erected to protect the coastline from Saracen pirates retains their sense of looming drama. Cathedrals, pastel homes, and gorgeous villas overlook chic beaches and quiet marinas.

Across the Bay of Naples, Herculaneum provides a deeper insight into the daily lives of Roman citizens preserved in mud, cooled magma, ash, and pumice for nearly 2,000 years. Mount Vesuvius maintains a sense of wonder as its fuming peak is mainland Europe’s last active volcano. The island of Procida offers a more authentic experience wandering around narrow lanes and belvederes, while Capri shines like a symbol of welcoming affluence with boutique shops, stunning coastal rock formations, and villas brimming with art.

Traveling South from the Amalfi Coast takes you through a small portion of coastline belonging to the region of Basilicata. The charming town of Maratea is a collection of towns along the craggy hillside known for gorgeous panoramic views, a group of 44 churches, and a soaring statue of Christ the Redeemer. Three nights in Pizzo engages your senses with the sea breeze brushing against your cheeks, the scent of artisan ice cream linger in the air, the flavor of fresh seafood taken from the Tyrrhenian, and gorgeous views mixing fascinating white cliffs above turquoise and azure water.

Visiting the small towns of Pizzo, Tropea, and Scilla showcase the distinctive charisma embodied in the cobbled lanes and former castles while also revealing the similarities of warmth, beauty, and tradition. Pentedattilo offers a unique perspective of an Italian ghost town with a mythological reputation dating back to the 17th century. Italy Tour Review: Sorrento, Venice, Colosseum, Blue Grotto, Gondola Ride, 2 Weeks

Zicasso’s travel agent developed our itinerary to our specifications. She reached out right away and called if a follow-up was needed or to clarify something. Our trip went off without any problems. The itinerary was very clear, as was the timeline, trip summary, and tickets. If I had a question, she always responded.

We had one slight issue, which was quickly resolved and worked itself out. I communicated often with her throughout the trip and I always received a pleasant response. Our trip was designed to our needs. Our accommodations were wonderful! I would definitely recommend this travel company!

France, Italy, China, Japan Trip Review: Paris, Rome, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Glass Blowing, Cultural Experiences, 16 Days

Zicasso’s travel company did such a great job putting the trip together. I was charged for an extra night at our hotel in Paris, but they are refunding that and the Cairo portion of the trip we had to cancel.

Our Paris tour guide was great and I’d recommend her to anyone. Our Rome tour guides were very good. Hong Kong was fine. Our Tokyo guide was wonderful.

Really, the only hiccup on the trip was our hotel in Hong Kong. The company that picked us up dropped us at one hotel, not the correct one. Thankfully, a couple of their bellhops walked us and all our luggage several blocks to the correct hotel. Our tour guide the next day also went to the wrong hotel, but we only lost about 45 minutes before we figured out the issue. If you use that hotel again, please make sure folks know which hotel is which.

The "Fast and Furious" car experience was OK; however, my grandson was so tired he slept through most of it. The chopstick-making was fun, as was the glass-blowing experience.

Italy Anniversary Travel Review: Tuscany, Cooking Class, Vineyards, 12 Nights

Our anniversary trip to Italy, which Zicasso’s travel specialist helped me plan, was magical. She spaced out our activities, so we got to see the major sites, but didn't feel overbooked. She was extremely helpful days before the trip, making sure we had detailed instructions and vouchers, and was available on WhatsApp while we were traveling. She was super-responsive during the planning and while we were on the trip.
