Detailed Description
DAY BY DAY ITINERARY:
DAY 1, WED: USA
Depart USA for an overnight flight to Cairo. Full service on board.
DAY 2, THU: CAIRO
Arrival in Cairo. A Homeric Tours representative welcomes you to Egypt and transfers you to your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure.
DAY 3, FRI: CAIRO/ ASWAN / NILE CRUISE
After breakfast transfer to the airport for the flight to Aswan. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your cruise ship. After lunch visit the High Dam, masterpiece of modern engineering built to end the disastrous Nile floods. Continue to the Temple of Philae and unfinished Obelisk. (B,L,D)
DAY 4, SAT: NILE CRUISE
After breakfast sail to Kom Ombo to visit the Ptolemaic Temple built for Horus & Sobek. Sail to Edfu. (B,L,D)
DAY 5, SUN: NILE CRUISE
Morning visit of the 2000 year old well preserved Temple of Horus. Sail to Luxor via Esna. (B,L,D)
DAY 6, MON: NILE CRUISE / LUXOR / CAIRO
After breakfast visit the most important area of the Nile, the West Bank. The Valley of Kings containing the secretive tombs of New Kingdom Pharaohs, the Valley of Queens, the temple of Queen Hatshepsut and Colossi Memnon. Continue to the East Bank to visit the Karnak & Luxor Temples before returning to Cairo. Upon arrival at Cairo airport, you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at your hotel. (B)
DAY 7, TUE: CAIRO
After breakfast begin your full day tour, visiting the Egyptian Museum, home of the world’s greatest collections of antiquities from the Pharaonic period. Continue your sightseeing to the Giza Pyramids. Examine Cheop’s 4500 year old Great Pyramid and sneak a peek at the inner burial chambers. Explore the pyramids built by Mycerinus and Chepheren and beware the mighty Sphinx protector of the Pharaohs. Visit the Khan El Khalili bazaar before returning to your hotel for overnight. (B)
DAY 8, WED: CAIRO / USA
You will be transferred to the airport for your return flight home. (B)
Note: Passengers sailing on the Sonesta Sun Goddess will begin the cruise on Saturday from Luxor, and the cruise itinerary will be performed
in reverse. Due to closing of Esna Lock in January, June and December, the sightseeing to Luxor will be operated by motorcoach.
