Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town, South Africa

Land in the city of Cape Town – considered by The New York Times to be the best destination to visit in 2014. You’ll be collected from Cape Town International Airport and transferred to Ellerman House, an impressive Cape Edwardian mansion and your home away from home for the next three days. Relax outside on the veranda taking in the awe-inspiring sea-views over Bantry Bay. For dinner, dine at Ellerman and enjoy the very best in gourmet cuisine marked by Relais & Châteaux excellence.

Day 2: Cape Town Cape Peninsula Tour via Helicopter

This morning a spectacular flight over the rugged Cape coast and lush vineyards of Constantia awaits you. Depart on a unique Cape Peninsula Helicopter Tour and enjoy a bird’s eye view of Cape Town’s treasured sights. Soar over False Bay towards the striking peninsula of Cape Point, where you’ll observe the iconic lighthouse and the swirling rough seas beneath it. After your thrilling air voyage enjoy a private five course lunch prepared by the exceptional Chef Bruce Robertson at the Boat House – an idyllic beach house in the picturesque village of Scarborough. After lunch you’ll take a thrilling cable car ride to the summit of Table Mountain, one of the Seven Wonders of Nature. Then descend to enjoy dinner in a uniquely South African location – Groote Schuur, the residence of South Africa’s president.

Day 3: Cape Town Robben Island Tour

A gripping trip back in time waits today as you travel to Robben Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site, rich in social and political history. A private boat charter will transport you across Table Bay to the island to meet your guide - an ex-political prisoner who served time at the Island’s maximum security prison. Their personal insight and knowledge will bring a stirring realness to what prison life here was like. Nelson Mandela, South Africa's first democratic President, spent 18 years on the island and you’ll see the very cell where he was held. After your tour, return to the charter and explore Camps Bay – characterized by massive granite boulders, striking white sands and sapphire-colored waters. In the afternoon visit Kirstenbosch Gardens and marvel at the fynbos – natural vegetation part of the Cape Floral Region and classified as UNESCO World Heritage site status. For dinner, travel to the nearby Ottimo Cibo - the private restaurant and home of Chef Nikki Booth.  You will enjoy delectable food and entertainment (by local circus artists) in a picturesque setting.

Day 4: Winelands (La Residence & Car Museum & Chocolate/Wine)

Arise to enjoy a thrilling helicopter trip to the Cape Winelands – once aboard you’ll see the city disappear and rugged mountains and fertile valleys dominate your view. Arrive at the grand La Residence luxury hotel, voted the Number One Hotel in the World by the Conde Nast Traveler Reader’s Choice award in 2013. Chocolate lovers are bound to be excited when exploring what the area’s wine farms have to offer.  The Waterford Estate provides out-of-this-world pairings between dark and milk chocolate and Cabernet Sauvingnon, Shiraz and sweet wines that offer truly exciting flavor sensations. After overloading your taste buds, visit the Franschhoek Motor Museum - here the Rupert family will take you on a private tour showcasing the museum’s collection of 220+ automobiles and motorcycles. Afterwards, the family will take you on an exclusive tour of their racehorse breeding facilities and vineyards.

Day 5: Winelands with Richard Hilton, Specialist Wine Maker & Guide & Dylan Lewis, Sculptor

This morning after breakfast, wine expert and guide Richard Hilton will provide exclusive access to vineyards inaccessible to the public. Here he’ll take you behind the scenes to share the secrets of the wine making process. Then travel to the studio of Dylan Lewis – arguably one of the world’s finest wildlife sculptors and one of only a few living artists whose works have been exhibited by the international auction house, Christie´s. Inspired by the wildness, his sculptures center on feline predators - powerfully conveying these animal forms in an astonishingly life-like and visually striking way. His more recent works include portrayals of the human form and an exploration of the ‘wilderness within.’

Day 6: Cape Town to South Pole, Antarctica

Today, your ultimate Antarctic adventure begins. A private charter will fly you over the Antarctic Circle and hundreds of iridescent blue icebergs. After five hours in the air, your skillful pilot will land on a unique ice runaway. You’ve officially reached the ends of the earth and the dramatic icescapes and unimaginable beauty of the secluded continent of Antarctica. As you reach camp Whichaway, your luxurious Antarctic home, you’ll immediately be struck by the white dome pods, resembling large golf-balls, which make up the camp’s living and sleeping quarters. While here, your meals will be prepared by Jena Viney, a top South African chef, so relax and enjoy fine-dining, together with home-comforts, in the most spectacular of settings.

Day 7: Discover Antarctica’s Icy Wonderland

At camp Whichaway the world is your oyster – with a vast range of experiences for you to relish. Adrenaline junkies can try their hand at kite-skiing, ice climbing or abseiling. Alternatively, explore the ice caves or marvel at ice waves, while nature lovers can visit the Adelie penguins for sublime photographic opportunities. Travel across the ice will be done in special 4x4s which enable you to reach majestic and otherwise inaccessible locations. All adventures are led by the camp’s six expert polar guides, who will not only show you the ropes, but can also cater to almost any request.

Day 8: Exploration in Antarctica

Explore more of the surrounding area today. Take a trip to the Russian science base and learn more about the research taking place on this icy continent. The adventurous can journey to Nunatak Mountain, not far from the camp, for rock climbing and the option to ascend previously unclimbed peaks. Your guides will keep you safe and warm during all activities, while offering expert advice and interesting facts about the environment. In the three days spent at Whichaway you’ll embark on sensational undertakings on a scale incomparable to anything you’ve ever encountered in your life.

Day 9: Leave Antarctica for the Greater Kruger, South Africa

Bid farewell to Antarctica this morning as you fly back to experience a South African safari. The Royal Malewane luxury lodge, located in the heart of the Greater Kruger National Park, waits with a diversity of wildlife viewing including the Big Five: lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo. The lodge pairs the idyllic bush setting with luxury accommodations and excellent service. Set off on your first game drive, in an open topped vehicle, and experience the thrill of riding through the African bush and experiencing the animals’ up-close-and-personal in their natural environment. Return to sumptuous fine-dining at the lodge – a recipient of the esteemed Chaîne des Rôtisseurs Blazon award for excellent cuisine.

Day 10: Greater Kruger: Blyde River Helicopter & Champagne Picnic

Today, you’ll explore the surrounding area celebrated for its picture-postcard views of spectacular rock formations, thundering waterfalls and twisting ravines. Leave Royal Malewane by helicopter for breath-taking views of the Blyde River Canyon, the largest green canyon in the world. Then follow the meandering river to the Three Rondawels - impressive rock features named after their resemblance to African huts. Pass over the Blydepoort Dam and scour the riverbank for crocodiles and hippos, before landing at a secluded spot alongside Pinnacle Rock - a freestanding quartzite buttress framed by awe-inspiring views, where you’ll enjoy a peaceful champagne picnic.

Day 11: Greater Kruger: Bush Walk

Wake this morning and prepare to experience the Reserve differently - by setting out on a ranger-led bush walk. This perspective will allow you to enjoy the finer details of the bush and connect with the sights around you on an intimate level, while your knowledgeable guide shares interesting factoids. Learn basic survival skills, discover how to identify animal tracks and the medicinal properties of various plants. This evening, travel to a surprise location in the heart of the African bush for a delicious dinner in front of an open campfire and under the stars.

Day 12: Leave South Africa for North Island, Seychelles
Today, you journey from the bush to the beach – where a private tropical island getaway fit for royalty waits. Catch a private charter to the Seychelles, and the 500 acre North Island. Here desolate white sand beaches, coconut palms and takamaka trees beckon invitingly. The idyllic setting offers relaxation, exclusivity (with only 11 villas) and breathtaking natural beauty – all of which likely compelled The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, William and Kate, to choose North Island as their honeymoon location. Sip cocktails on the beach and watch the sunset paint the sky in a myriad of colors.

Day 13: Seychelles

Arise to the sight of inspiring sea-vistas - surely no better motivation to jump out of bed and begin exploring the island. Why not do so by kayak?  From this ocean-based vantage you can truly appreciate the splendor of your tropical paradise – from lush indigenous forests, to impressive granite outcrops, and spectacular sandy coastline. So grab your paddle and begin exploring. Be on the lookout for the endangered hawksbill turtles and green turtles who call these waters home. After lunch, take a mountain bike ride to discover the sights that caught your interest from the water – from the specular and indigenous coco der mer palms to the Aldabra giant tortoises.

Day 14: Seychelles

Head to Dive Beach this morning and investigate some of the most spectacular coral reefs in the world. Spectacular snorkeling can be enjoyed just off the beach, so grab your snorkeling gear and discover the intricate filigree reefs, with both hard and soft coral, and search for the colorful two bar anenomefish, striped Devil firefish and the ocean’s largest fish – the whale shark (seasonal). In the evening visit Sunset Bar, a rustic bar on the western side of the island which is positioned just above the water. Relax taking in the sea views with your favorite tropical beverage.

Day 15: Departure from the Seychelles for Home

Today, as you travel home you can be sure that this vacation will be remembered as the Holy Grail of vacations. Over the past two weeks the diversity of incredible sights you experienced are more than what any one person can dream of doing in a lifetime. Scratch your experiences off your bucket list with pride.
