What are your overall comments on the trip and travel company?
Mongol Tours was really excellent. Suzie Masters - who handled our trip - worked very hard to find a good itinerary. Our hotels were great, the many internal flights worked out perfectly, and our guides for the most part were totally great. There were no glitches! When I think back and read our review of the trip, what strikes me is that there were no bad days dealing with problems - everything ran smoothly so that we could enjoy the experience.
What were the most enjoyable or memorable parts of your trip?
Just about everything was great, so it's hard to choose. We loved our overnight boat ride on Halong Bay. We loved Angkor Wat and Siem Reap. We loved the boat ride from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. We loved walking around the town of Luang Prabang and seeing the monks in the morning, and our elephant ride outside of Luang Prabang. We were fascinated by the Cu Chi tunnels. We loved eating the local food every place we went. We could go on and on - there were so many great parts.
If you could take your trip again, what would you do differently?
We probably would try to stay a little longer in some places. We saw a lot in a short time, and it's hard to know what to give up, but we felt we would like to stay longer in almost everyplace we went. In the end, we would probably have skipped our one night in Hue, although it was interesting and we had the most wonderful guide - it was almost worth going just to be able to spend time with him. We also overplanned in Saigon - we ended up not seeing everything that was planned because there was no time.
