We worked with our trip planner to devise an itinerary that met our needs and expectations, and he delivered. We wanted to see wildlife and natural areas, and to end the trip with a few days at a quiet beach. We were able to see lots of wildlife in every location. The accommodations were all comfortable, and the naturalist guides were friendly and informative. The only negative comment we have is that, in some places, the printed itinerary needed to be more specific about pickup/departure times so we could plan accordingly; fortunately, our agent was available to answer our questions and concerns!
The most memorable moment was seeing a couple of quetzals working on their nest in the Monteverde cloud forest. Our guide was extremely knowledgable and pleasant. We also really liked our bird-watching walk with naturalist in Sarapiqui, feeding the rescued animals at Proyecto Asis, and the coffee/cacao/sugar cane tour in Santa Elena, which was informative and fun. The "extra" stop at the EcoThermales hot springs was an enjoyable surprise.
We might try to see some parts of Costa Rica we didn't see, or visit at a different time of the year--for instance, when the turtles are nesting in Tortuguero. But this was our first visit to Costa Rica, and we were satisfied with the itinerary.
