Our family of 3 (including child of 11) was beyond delighted with our hiking-focused trip to Patagonia (cruise + Torres del Paine + El Chalten + Santiago )organized by this tour company. We had researched our trip pretty thoroughly so we had a relatively complete agenda at the start, but we wanted expert advice to avoid pitfalls, not miss key places and assistance with all the logistics and lodging. Couldn't have been happier with our trip planner and the crew from the start. The communication back and forth in the early stages was timely. The price-point was excellent value for what we booked (we compared with similar high-end hiking itineraries we could've booked via US tour operators). All the arrangements and logistics were executed flawlessly. We were always met during transfers as expected with communications about the next event in the itinerary. All the rooms met our needs as family (it can be hard to ensure extra beds etc when booking these on one's own). When there was a problem getting a confirmed booking as expected at our desired lodge in Torres del Paine, our trip planner called us directly to let us know and provided a worthy alternative. She kept us on a waiting list and a few weeks before our trip we were able to get our first choice. We were provided with a contact person via App for "in country" real-time assistance. This was helpful for double-checking a few meeting times and restaurant bookings. We were very pleased with all our guides and drivers. It's hard to think of a single thing that we regret or that wasn't to expectation. We would most certainly seek out this tour company for future trips to the region.
Our 5 night stay at a Patagonia hotel in Torres Del Paine was a dream. The hiking options and phenomenal guides, the comfort of the lodge itself, the genuinely wonderful staff, the amenities (pool, hot tub, spa, bar, library, guanacos out the windows ) and the meals all were exceptional. We had never stayed at an "all inclusive" before and I was a bit worried it would not be worth it, but it exceeded expectation. We got into an unbeatable routine of hike, pool + hot tub, sauna, relax in library or bar, eat dinner, sleep, wake up to views of moody clouds or glorious sun on the mountains. Repeat. Tough to beat that.A close 2nd was the cruise from Punta Arenas to Ushuaia. This too was magical. The crew, the excursions, the food and the LANDING ON CAPE HORN!! were memories to last a lifetime. We aren't "cruise" types, but getting off the ship each day for a hike satisfied that need to be active. The word "luxurious" is perhaps an overstatement, but the ship was very tidy and comfortable and classy. We learned much local natural history from the lectures/films. Everyone on the ship went out of their way to treat us (and especially our son) like special friends. They know how special this trip is for people and they celebrate that. I highly recommend this trip.Finally- though it was brief, and required a lengthy drive from El Calafate back and forth, our 1 1/2 days in El Chalten was worth it and worth skipping Perito Moreno. People tried to talk us out of missing Perito Moreno, but we've seen many glaciers (including on our cruise this trip) and so it was no bit deal to skip and prioritize hiking to Fitzroy/Chalten. The hike to Laguna de los tres was an achievement and momentous for us. Mountain lovers should take note not to miss.
Truly nothing- considering the time constraints and trip priorities we had, we got it exactly right. It paid to have an idea of what we wanted to do before submitting our Zicasso inquiry, but maybe on a future trip we'll sort of take more suggestions so we get to places we may not know as much about. We were happy we chose to fly in-out of Santiago rather than Buenos Aires. one of the joys of traveling is having/finding a thing that you didn't quite get to...so then you have to plan another trip to come back. We'd love to explore wine country in Chile and go to Atacama.
