Our safari travel agent put together a wonderful 11 day itinerary for us. We have been to Africa before but always stayed at lodges. This time we wanted a tented camp experience and locations in the northern Serengeti for the great migration. I gave her a rough idea of what parks I wanted to stay at and she came back with suggestions telling me why one park was better to just drive for a day instead of spending a night. We arrived a day early to rest up after the long 20 hour flight. She arranged a pick up at the airport for us and an extra night stay at the African Tulip Hotel. Her husband came out the next day and took us out to a school on the outskirts of Arusha that he was helping to take some school supplies and clothing we had brought. He then ran us into the main market place so we could buy some rice for our bags to cushion our cameras on the vehicle. He then took us to the culture center for our souvenir shopping. Every arrangement we ask for was made and there were no surprises at the camps or the flights to and from the northern Serengeti. Our guide was a gem. He was so patient with us at each park when we would ask to stop so we could take photos and knew to turn the engine off so the vibrations wouldn't interfere. He was very knowledgeable about animals and birds. If he didn't have the answer he had some wonderful books on birds and animals the he would use to answer our questions. He was determined to make sure we did see one of the crossings at the Mara River. For 3 days the herd would gather at the river and then back off. On our last day, as we were moving to a new camp further away from where the migration would be, he ask if we would mind trying one more time to see if the herd would make the crossing. Sure enough, that morning we saw the wildebeest and zebras make the crossing. We had given up on the chance to see it but our guide was determined to make every effort for us to see it. He knew where a rhino liked to graze and spotted a female rhino and her baby from over a half mile away and we were the only ones to see her that day. Same for a leopard and seeing it have its lunch. When we had to postpone our hot air balloon ride one day due to high winds Our driver took us out very early that morning and we came upon 2 male lions having their morning breakfast. He has a great sense of humor and always helping with any questions we had. We couldn't have asked for a better guide on this trip. Also we have to mention our driver who drove out from Arusha to pick us up at our camp at Ngorongoro Crater to take us to the airstrip for our trip up to the northern Serengeti because our guide was driving over night to meet us at the airstrip there. The company is Tanzanian owned and they give back to their community with bringing in water so the villagers don't have to walk miles for it and build the desks and put in cement flooring at the local school. It was the best Tanzania trip we have had in 3 visits there. We can't say enough good things about this travel agency.

By far seeing the crossing at the Mara river of the wildebeest and zebras. The hot air balloon ride was a thrill even if we didn't see as many animals as we had before.
I would probably take our agent's suggestion to stay at a lodge at Ngorongoro Crater instead of the tented camp. The camp was very nice but I would have liked to have my wife stay at a lodge one night.
