Our agent did a great job of planning this trip for the 2 of us! We spoke for almost an hour when she contacted me after I filled out the form on Zicasso asking for information on a Peru trip. I had already booked our international flights on Delta so we were dealing with a specific timeline. And I had already booked our Cusco flights for a certain day so we knew we needed to stay in Lima for 2 nights. Our travel agent made it all work and we were very happy with her services! And she was always available on "What App" for me to text her and checkin with questions which was really helpful.
The driver that picked us up at the Lima airport was excellent. He didn't speak much English but he was a great, careful driver. I was very scared of the crazy traffic in Lima and if we would have had to take a taxi I would have gone nuts because the drivers are very fast and crazy in Lima.
Our guide was the BEST. We really liked him because he was always positive, knowledgeable, happy, well-informed, and really put us first! And our driver was great also.
We truly enjoyed our trip and seeing the country of Peru for the first time.
Our guide was excellent and our driver was also. We were very happy with the services of both of them. They made our trip fun and enjoyable! The private transportation was the most important for me and I was very grateful for this! I did not want to worry about what/where/when etc. and this was taken care of for us.
The activities that our travel agent had planned for us were perfect. We had plenty of do and see but yet had some down time. We especially enjoyed Machu Pichu, (riding the Vista train was great), Moray and the salt mines, the circular terraces, the Inca terracing, the temples of Pisac and the moutains, the cathedrals, etc.
And the lunches provided were very nice. We enjoyed our guide's company and the restaurants he chose were perfect. We especially loved Ulrikes in Pisac!!
The city tour of Lima on the last day was very good and we especially enjoyed the catacombs at the monastery and the Larco museum. And the lunch at Mango was really nice and special! Our guide of the city tour gave great information in English on the tour and was very good. However I don't think her English was the best because when I asked questions in English I got the impression that most of the time she did NOT know what I was asking. And my husband has hearing aids and I kept asking her to look at him & speak so he could hear & understand and she kept looking at me instead...?? But it was a good tour and very informative. And the driver was excellent. He also took us to the water show the night before and we enjoyed that but we wish we would have had some time alone, just the 2 of us to walk around, and he was with us the entire time but I suppose that he had too because that was part of his job.
First of all, I would stay in Cusco a couple nights (really enjoyed the Cusco area) instead of 3 nights in the Sacred Valley where there was nothing to do at night & no where in our hotel we could go except our room. I know that our agent put us in the valley right away because of my heart condition & not wanting me to have problems in Cusco so I understand the WHY and it would have been fine if the hotel had been better. We were not pleased with the hotel the first night & I was overwelmed that we were going to have to stay there 2 more nights. After telling our guide that we were not pleased he texted or emailed someone to tell them and when we got back to the hotel that late afternoon they moved us to another room. Our first room, Room #25 (& there were several in a row in that section #24 #25 #26 #27 that were just like ours) was not acceptable:
1. The bed was awful and not comfortable, made noises everytime I moved.
2. The shower had no pressure with only a few drops of water coming out.
3. The room was freezing -- it got down to 38 that night/morning and there was no heat. They brought a small heater in the first room but you couldn't put it in the bathroom cuz no plug & didn't reach that far so I didn't even use the shower, etc because I would freeze.
So the second room was so much better because the bed was great, the shower worked fine w/water coming out and hot, and the heater could be put in the bathroom so I could take a shower without freezing. So thank you for getting us moved. **In hindsight I would certainly have paid more if it meant having a room that was acceptable and nice. Next time I will ask about the $$ options so we don't get a room like that. Also the breakfast room was very, very cold (no heat) so we ate quick and then just waited for our guide so we could get out of there.
The hotel in Miraflores was good and the customer service excellent and the hotel in Cusco was excellent with everything--loved the room, the lobby/bar/fireplace/TV and restaurant.
