The most important concerns for us were flexible guides and drivers who were willing to add or subtract dedestinations , and willing to work longer hours when needed. We also wanted guides to suggest experiences that we were unaware of . This was the first time that we worked with four guides instead of one. All four guides and drivers met our expectations.
We often travel with another couple who we have been friends with for thirty five years. We all have different needs and quirks as we have aged , and want our guides to be very accommodating. All of our guides were able to meet our different needs and desires, and we believe that they had fun with us also.
Our coordinator was in constant contact with us , and our guides. That was very reassuring.
The one negative we experienced was the vehicle provided to us in Punta Arenas. We were assured that all vehicles would be large spacious and in good operating condition. This was not the case . The vehicle was old , shabby and had broken tail lights.
Before we contacted our agent and without speaking with us , our guide and driver decided the vehicle was not suitable for us. Upon contacting the company they worked for ,that our agency contracted, they were told that only larger vans for larger groups were available. Our guide took it upon himself to rent the van from his neighbor . We were pleased with our guide and drivers concern for our comfort and well being.
The hotels were all different and unique, as we wanted. We liked the architecture and uniqueness of all accommodations . We stayed in two Cumbres hotels, one in Santiago one in San Pedro. The food was awful in both. The service and staff were excellent in Santiago, and very lax and disorganized in San Pedro. In Punta Arenas at the hotel, and the camp the food and staff were top notch.
The fun we had hiking in the Atacama mountains. It was unique and different. Having lunch in the middle of “nowhere was a great experience , lots of great memories.
As we have traveled to many parts of the world , we usually tour synagogues and attend Sabbath services. It was spectacular attending sabbath services overlooking the Andes mountains in Santiago.
