This was a mother daughter trip that was planned by Diane at this South Pacific travel agency. She worked hard to understand what we were interested in doing and seeing while abroad and she succeeded. My mom and I had the most amazing time and we were able to sit back, relax and enjoy the trip without having to worry about every detail because Diane had prearranged all the stays, transportation, and some meals. We loved our excursions all over eastern Australia and were able to see and do everything we had wanted to experience. The trip was well planned out and we had a few days in each of the cities we visited. We never felt rushed and always felt like we saw everything we wanted to. We can't thank her enough for the trip of a lifetime!!
For both my mom and me, there were so many parts of our trip that we loved but our most memorable part of the trip was snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef. We loved that day excursion. We were able to swim out and see so many brilliantly colored coral and the fish just swam up to your face. We got to be in the water for about 2 and half hours. They had a semi submersible boat as well to take you around the reef with a guide to point out fish, turtles, and coral. And they served lunch on the ship that brought you to the reef. That was probably the coolest day of our trip. We also really enjoyed the day trip to Philip Island to see the penguin parade. The whole day trip took us to several different stops where we saw native Australian animals like the kangaroos, wallabies, koalas, and seals. We loved being able to feed and pet the wallabies and kangaroos. We also really enjoyed touring Sydney - it was a really cool city with lots of places to explore. Adelaide was also one of our favorite stops because of how pretty it was there. The historic buildings were so interesting and beautiful. We loved the botanical gardens, they were huge and seemed to go on forever. It was just a gorgeous city. We had our overnight trip to Kangaroo Island from there, which we thoroughly enjoyed and loved being able to get up close and personal with more kangaroos, wallabies, koalas and other animals. We both said we could see ourselves living in Adelaide.
If we were to take the trip again, we would probably skip the cultural center in the Cannes. While it was interesting to hear about the history of native Australians, it felt a little more like a history lesson and being back in school than actually experiencing the culture. The skyrail next to the cultural center was entertaining but my mom and I were disappointed to find that it wasn't actually through the trees like we had envisioned, rather just high above them. We had assumed we would see more animals but were disappointed.
