I returned from a 9 days trip to Morocco almost a week ago, and first it needs to be said it is quite hard to summarize all the impressions of this trip. Morocco is an incredible and extremely diverse country, with so much to offer that the general recommendation would be to just go and experience it, no reading about it would even begin to cover how amazing the visit can be.
I chose to let all the planning in the hands of the tour agency, with just giving them hints of my general interests. The initial preparation with the agency was effective: my emails were promptly answered by a competent travel advisor and we spoke on the phone numerous times (despite technical difficulties due to my location) - my itinerary was personally tailored based on my preferences and the result matched my expectations.
It was a lovely and memorable trip - the history, culture, food (!), crafts, architecture, amazing landscape and beautiful people. My tour guide/ travel manager was the key to help enjoying my time in Morocco - attentive, flexible, patient, responsive, great sense of humor, and most importantly knowledgeable and passionate about getting the visitors to really learn about Morocco’s beauties and diverse culture.
My impression of this company is one of a tour agency which is very considerate, well organized and knowledgeable, and which goes the extra mile to offer its customers an unforgettable experience. I would recommend them to my friends at any point in time.
Again, very hard to pick:
The visit to the desert is a must on the itinerary. Not much that can be explained here, it is a must have experience.
Also, if the itinerary involves driving from the desert to Marrakech, then a stop (for at least one night) at Dar Jnan Tiouira in Dades is a must. This place represents the perfection of Moroccan hospitality. From the detailed wonderful decorations, to the personal attention of the owner, everything shows the consideration to the customer and the genuine care, and the only regret I have is spending only one night at this wonderful location.
I enjoyed the professional guides that I had in Fes. The guide through the fascinating Fes Medina was stellar level professional. The guide I had for the tasting tour was particularly special, as she was the only female guide that I had. It was special to communicate with her, she read my unspoken thoughts and the tour was more of a discovery of culture in general, using the food only as a a starting point for conversation.
Last but not least, the food - and special thanks have to go again to my travel manager, who recommended all the hidden gems (outside the beaten path of 4-stars restaurants) where one can have the real experience of the delicious local food.
In case you are a traveler looking for enjoying a true Moroccan experience, I would recommend removing the typical modern hotel from the accommodations. If I would redo the trip, I would insist on a riad accommodation in Marrakech. The hotel in Marrakech had little to do with experiencing Morocco - impersonal, ugly decorated, and not even high quality for a modern type hotel, it is designed for business travel and not for vacation.
Also, if I would redo the trip, I would know that I can discover Chefchaouen by myself (under the careful eye of my travel manager), not much value added from the local guide there.
