Cengiz @ this Turkey travel agency was very responsive to all email inquiries and made the planning process easier. The first few days after we were in Turkey on our tour, we received daily calls from the office, asking us if hotels, driver, and guide met our expectations and if we were satisfied with our tour or needed anything.
We loved Cappadocia -- the rock formations, the homes/churches/underground towns carved in the rock, the ambiance of the area, and the Argos Inn Hotel. Our budding archaeologist (8 years old) was captivated by Catalhoyuk (Neolithic site) and the old city walls of Troy (as well as the modern wooden horse replica). She was thrilled to walk in the warm mineral waters at the top of the mountain in Pamukkale after exploring the necropolis at Hieropolis. We recommend the grilled fish at the restaurant across the street from Kusadasi Liman Hotel. Hattusas, the ancient Hittite capital, was another fabulous place to explore. And don't miss the Ankara Museum with its terrific collection of ancient artifacts.
We really crammed a LOT into the time we had. We had to skip a few things we had planned to see because driving between places always took longer than estimated. Driving thru the countryside didn't add to the experience in Turkey either so I'd strongly recommend flying between some of the major sights even if it means transit thru Istanbul. With the new domestic airport, I think more flights are being added, and taking advantage of the flights would allow one to see more without such long driving days.
