Overall our trip was amazing! We worked closely with our travel advisor to ensure that we were able to make the most of our time in New Zealand without having to change lodging and/or drive long distances frequently. Her advice regarding the highlights, activities, lodging and restaurants was invaluable. We also found her to be very open to our questions and suggestions when we had other ideas. The guides, and transportation companies were all top notch and everything went smoothly. There were times prior to our travel when we contacted our travel advisor and had difficulty getting in touch for a few days or more. However, when we encountered bad weather while in New Zealand and needed advice about what to do, she responded immediately and was very helpful. Overall, our experience was great.
There were many memorable parts of our trip. We enjoyed every place we visited and if we could have, we would have stayed longer. It was very helpful having guides and a variety of transportation modes (boats., plane, train) to reduce the amount of driving we had to do.
One of the challenges we had was pre-booking tours that were later cancelled due to weather or other reasons. We were unable to get a breakdown of the costs of the different activities, hotel lodgings, etc. prior to the trip. Therefore, we didn't know how we were being charged and what, if any refunds, we are entitled to.
Only one of the lodgings was below expectations because of its proximity to the train tracks and not conveniently located.

I do apologize for the confusion regarding the price breakdown. As our rates with vendors (hotels, transportation, guides, etc.) are negotiated directly and under contract, we are unfortunately unable to disclose these rates at the risk of losing our contracts. However, we are happy to provide refunds for weather-related cancellations and have made sure to refund you the full cost of the canceled heli-hiking tour.
I'm also sorry to hear your time in the Awutuna hotel was not up to your expectations. I will certainly keep this in mind when considering this property in the future.
