We just returned from a fabulous 3 week trip to New Zealand that this travel specialist helped us plan. We are thrilled with the trip that our travel specialist and her team put together for us. They were terrific to work with from the first contact. She worked closely with us to design an itinerary that suited our group--two retired couples interested in focusing our time on New Zealand's wonderful national parks. She put together an itinerary that worked with our budget and interests, desired pace of trip and she added fun activities along the way. She was extremely responsive to our email questions, often responding within the hour or the day! We really appreciated the variety of interesting and good quality accommodations she arranged for us. We stayed in 4 star hotels, remote lodges, B and Bs, as well as boutique hotels. Each accommodation had unique features that made it enjoyable and comfortable. All the transfers went very smoothly, from car rentals to ferry rides and water transfers to remote locales.
I hadn't heard of Zicasso before planning this trip and am grateful that this resource exists for travelers interested in finding the right travel agent to work with them. I would really recommend working with an agent located in the country you are planning to visit, as we did with this company. Very helpful to have an agent 'on-site' when having to make adjustments to plans, contact during trip with questions etc.
We asked the travel company to focus our trip on New Zealand's national parks and we were not disappointed. Highlights included a heli-hike on the Tasman Glacier near Mt Cook and a day cruise on Milford Sound, possibly the most beautiful place I have ever seen! We also enjoyed riding the Shotover jet boat in Queenstown. There are many opportunities for hiking in beautiful places, and it is not at all crowded, even in their busy summer season.
Overall we were very impressed with the friendly people in New Zealand and the obvious pride people take in their beautiful country.
We would not have spent time in Christchurch. We had hoped to take a day trip on the train from Christchurch to Greymouth, but the train closed down at the last minute due to fires. This left us with 3 days in Christchurch which is still recovering from the earthquake a few years ago. The traffic patterns due to construction make driving through downtown Christchurch a nightmare, especially if you are not used to driving on the left hand side of the road. Our preference is for smaller rural areas so spending time in a large city was not our priority.
