Outstanding from start (first contact) to finish (end of trip). Quick and flexible responses to some last minute needs (stemming from our side) to make changes during trip. Many unique experiences we would have never had on our own (and we are pretty seasoned unassisted travelers).
The guides were all amazing: varied and interesting personalities, incredibly well informed on the topic(s) with which they were covering, fun, and accommodating. Obviously carefully vetted and carefully picked for this particular trip. When I was (seemingly) out of hearing distance my daughter seemed to be enjoying practicing her Spanish with them.
We had the complexity that my 15-year-old daughter is an ambulatory partial paraplegic and it was just the two of us travelling on a mother-daughter trip. At every turn they had worked subtle accommodations into schedule (always a driver on call nearby during private walking tours, etc.). In no way was the scope of our travels limited, and we never had to explain; all guides, drivers and hotels were briefed on her needs and, more importantly, her significant capabilities. Guides adjusted appropriately without any disability-centric discussion required. All seemed to feel perfectly competent in handling this (no solicitous "do you need a break?" questions, just a statement to both of us at the beginning to just let them know if we wanted to sit down and have a coffee break or whatever at any point. Amazingly, the disability just wasn't an issue, which is as good as it gets.
Tapas tour in Madrid - great guide-we hope he visits us in Boston
Focused guided tours of the Prado and the Guggenheim (about as different as two museum tours (and two guides) can get, but both tours quickly tailored to my daughter's interest in art and the evolution of technique and my interest in paints and materials)
Day trip with guide to Toledo focusing on history, architecture and art
Cooking class in San Sebastian
Three star dinners (Madrid and Barcelona) and dinners at tiny local restaurants
Room with "secret garden" and spa
Walks through Barcelona and Girona
Days off at just the right time
(Not for public-guide in San Sebastian was very good, but not quite right for us.)
