Our travel agent from this company was amazing. She set up a trip that was perfectly tailored to our needs. We traveled with our children, ages 22 and 24 for a total of 16 nights. As the trip date came near, she was happy to hand hold me thru some frightening events in London and make some adjustments to our trip. The trip covered many locations without making us feel rushed. She knew just when to insert activities and side trips and when to schedule some downtime.
Well the 5 star hotels of course!
But starting in Belfast, I'd say Giants Causeway and the Carrick Bridge. The hotel was a beautiful boutique hotel.
In Dublin, the highlight was the Pub tour with our guide and the Guinness tour. We wished we had another day to shop!
Galway was only one night but enough for us to explore the city center, catch up on shopping and we had a great meal at Oscars Bistro.
We saw the cliffs of Moher on our way to Dromoland. Words don't do this part of the trip justice. Dromoland was such a beautiful place and provided pampering and calm in the middle of the trip. Wish I golfed! The service was unbeatable. Food magnificent.
Off to our resort. Beautiful hotel and location. Had a private local driver who took us around to Dingle and Slea Head. Was a bit rainy but not a washout. Stunning drive. Great food at the hotel and wonderful massages.
Flew out of Shannon to Edinburgh. I would have to say that this was the highlight of the trip for me. The city is magnificent and the hotel beyond sophisticated and elegant. We had dinner at 'The Kitchin' which was definitely a culinary adventure. The best meal and wine pairings of the entire trip. We all hoped on an off as we liked for two days.
While Inverness was beautiful and the day at Isle of Skye enjoyable, I think for me it was a long excursion at the end of a long trip that I could possibly have skipped. If we were doing a trip focused just on Scotland, I'd say go for it and spend more than a 12-hour tour of Skye. But the weather up there is unpredictable and that can make or break the whole thing I think. Inverness as a city is a letdown after Edinburgh. Also if I could avoid going thru Heathrow next time I go to Ireland or Scotland I would. Not sure if that is possible, but I'd prefer a shorter journey without the transfers.
