Our travel planner proved to be an excellent resource. We had never been to Australia or New Zealand and we found her recommendations for lodging and activities to be EXACTLY what we had in mind. We told our travel planner that, to us, lodging was part of the experience, not just for shelter, and she delivered by recommending some very unique, interesting and enjoyable places in superb locations in which to stay.
Our travel planner also did a lot of research into some activities we suggested for which she had no direct experience. She was also very responsive to our questions during the planning process, and then especially when we had a few air travel related 'bumps' during our trip.
We intend to use her as a resource to help us plan our next vacation around an already scheduled Mediterranean cruise.
This trip was on our 'bucket list' of places to visit for decades. We were not disappointed by the reality of traveling there. It was so nice to visit some place where you didn't have to worry about whether you should drink the tap water, or eat a salad. Truth be told, the Kiwi's and Aussies should be proud of the highly developed societies they have created with such a relatively small number of taxpaying citizens.
Climbing the Sydney Harbor Bridge at dusk.
Our 2 day tour of Kangaroo Island and our lodging there, walking in a field and watching kangaroo mothers with their 'joeys' eat and play. Spotting wallabies and koalas as we drove along, watching the fur seals commune on the beach.
Visiting Uluru, and having an outdoor gourmet meal with wine pairings while watching the sun set.
Flying to/from Milford Sound and taking a cruise down the fjord was astoundingly beautiful.
Having a cooking lesson in the Barossa Valley.
Staying in a cabin at a Winery and the wine tasting there and at the winery just around the corner on the North Island of New Zealand.
Having fully reclining seats during the long periods of international air travel.
At Uluru, we would not do both the breakfast and dinner while watching the sun rise/set. They take you do both at exactly the same location. We'd just do the dinner next time.
We'd stay in the Barossa Valley instead of in Adelaide.
We'd make the fly/cruise/fly reservation from Queenstown to Milford Sound earlier in our stay, so that if it got cancelled for weather, there'd be more days afterwards within which to get it rescheduled.
We'd not do the Labyrinth tour through the glowworm caves. My wife has limited flexibility in her knee and portions of this caving experience were very difficult for her to do.
We'd spend more time in Melbourne and Sydney.
