We couldn't be more pleased with our travel agency! We had an amazing experience in India, and a large part of the reason for that is because every detail of our trip was planned and meticulously carried out by our agent and his staff. Our drivers and guides were always on time and all very knowledgeable and personable, the hotels were topnotch with great restaurants and a good variety of food, and we always made our flights. Anytime we had a question when we weren't with our guides, all we had to do was call our agent and he always answered the phone. He would be back with an answer within five minutes! We decided to change our plans a couple of times, and the travel agency staff were always very accommodating. We felt very well taken care of at all times!
It's really difficult to pick out favorite parts of this trip, because each place had it's own special charm. The hustle and bustle of Kathmandu was fascinating and the Himalayas were breathtaking! We enjoyed spending time with a local family in Delhi during Diwali, and the Taj Mahal was awesome! The activities on the Ganges in Varanasi were amazing and really captured the spirituality of the place. We really enjoyed Samode and riding a camel and meeting some of the local people there - it was a nice break from the cities. The Pushkar Camel Fair was quite an experience for the senses - we loved the energy of the place! Ranthambore was also a good place to relax - the hotel was fabulous, so in-between safaris we got some much-needed rest. The Elephanta Caves and the Victoria Terminus were highlights of Mumbai, but we also really enjoyed our early morning tour, Mumbai at Dawn, which really showed us the behind-the-scenes workings of the city and the resiliency of the people. And when it comes to the people of India and Nepal, almost everyone we met was friendly and accommodating. We always felt safe, even the few times we ventured out to walk around by ourselves!
I think for our first time to India, our itinerary was perfect! It highlighted the most popular places, but also allowed us to get up close to the people and see how they live. It was a busy time of the year because of Diwali and the Pushkar Camel Fair, but it was worth maneuvering the crowds to be able to have those experiences. If we were to go again, we would probably spend more time outside the cities and along the coastline.
