This was our second trip working with Zicasso and we wondered if it could possibly match our memorable first experience in Vietnam. The answer was an unequivocal yes. Everything about our trip with this travel agency was excellent, and we once again marveled at the well thought out, perfectly planned and timed itinerary which allowed us to see and learn so much more than we ever could have on our own or in a group. The consistently seamless, punctual arrangements, the high standard of accommodations, and most of all, the outstanding level of professionalism and responsibility of our courteous, reliable, knowledgable, personable, good-natured guide and driver impressed us greatly. After just a few hours with them we knew that we were in excellent hands and were therefore able to 'turn off' any travel related concerns and focus our energy on taking in all that we were seeing and experiencing. As was true in Vietnam, we were very impressed with the safe, responsible, smooth driving, the effort to make the drives as comfortable as possible, and the good condition of the car, its cleanliness, the thoughtful supply of bottled water and snacks, and the obvious compatibility between our driver and guide, which made for a very pleasant ambience during the long stretches of driving. We had complete confidence in their guidance and driving, so there truly was never a moment of anxiety or concern. It is not an overstatement to say that we had another 'trip of a lifetime'.
In discussing our trip, neither of us can think of anything that we didn't enjoy or find fascinating, and in retrospect we are awed by the vast variety of experiences. We both found the camel ride at sunset in the Sahara to be profoundly moving and memorable. Seeing the stunning Todra and Dades Gorges took our breath away. Following our guide through the medinas of the various cities was endlessly fascinating, and watching the artisans create the various traditional Moroccan goods was very impressive. Learning about the history of Morocco, the influences of the various cultures, of Islam, of the blending of ancient and modern, all of it was fascinating and enlightening. Maybe more than anything, because there was such an easy rapport with our guide and driver and they were so graciously open to sharing, we were very comfortable asking whatever questions popped into our heads. In many ways, those informal exchanges with our guide (whose English is excellent) taught us more about Morocco than any tour or history lecture ever could, and are among the most valued memories of our trip.
At this time, we honestly can't think of anything we would have done differently. We were definitely glad that we had packed 'light' because with our fairly intense itinerary, it was nice not to have too much to repack and load up each morning. We appreciated the fact that the pace eased up a bit in the last few days of the journey, by which time we were grateful for a little more 'down time' for getting organized for the journey home.
