Our family of eight had the exciting and memorable trip we'd hoped during our travels in Morocco. From the start, Zicasso connected us with two excellent potential tour companies - it was difficult to chose since both were clearly knowledgable about Morocco and provided great plans to meet our needs.A wonderful aspect of getting connected with Zicasso was the ability to secure a trip that enabled us to include all the sites and activities of a high-end tour company's itinerary that we liked, but at considerably less cost and as our own private tour. Our guide and driver were the best - very professional, experienced and knowledgeable, friendly, attentive, and accommodating throughout the trip. Additionally, each of the special guides for specific activities were excellent. Having our own van meant we could be flexible with our schedule.
Our active family most enjoyed the Sahara Desert stay and the day of hiking in the High Atlas Mountains. It's hard to describe the feeling of being in the midst of endless, beautiful sand dunes - it must be experienced. The desert camp setup and food were incredible. Everyone enjoyed a turn at sand boarding, the desert camel ride to camp was a true highlight, but the ride back in a truck sliding over sand dunes was equally exciting. The hike in the Atlas mountains came with 3 mules as backup that were handy. The rugged beauty of the high peaks combined with the fresh green of spring trees in the valleys made for beautiful journey. The hammam and spa massage experience at the resort in Marrakech was a true highlight for the adults. The markets of Fes and Marrakech were definitely fun with the myriad of shops and alleys. The Tasting Tour of the market in Fes was a real hit with all ages.
We would definitely spend another night at the desert camp. The time was too short there....we discovered if staying another day we could have had lunch arranged with a nomad family, done more desert trekking, and just enjoyed the unique setting longer. We would also have planned a full day for the Atlas Mountain hike and not had the hammam experience arranged for 4 pm on the same day back in Marrakech. The original intent - to have a relaxing experience after the hike was a good thought, but the logistics didn't work out with the distances involved. We found out we could have visited the home of our special guide, plus would have had time to shop in the authentic berber village shops. Instead, we ended up hurrying down the mountain to get back for our hamman appointment.Several felt scheduling the hamman experience and the resort dinner (both were fantastic) for the last night instead would have given the trip a more special ending, too.
Travel Company Comments:
Thank you for your detailed review and for taking the time to write about your trip with us to Morocco. We’re really happy to hear that you were able to enjoy your trip and the company of your guide and driver.
Regarding your stay in the Sahara Desert, we’re really glad to hear that you liked the experience and that you found it to be very unique, however, past experiences with previous travelers has taught us that more than one night is overkill and takes away from the time you can spend exploring other destinations. If we had added one more night in the desert, we would have had to eliminate some of the experiences that you had in Marrakech, and that you’ve enjoyed.
We appreciate your feedback about the timing of your Atlas Mountain hike and Hammam treatments, and we will make sure to spread out the activities on that day so that our clients can fully enjoy their experiences.
Thanks again for your notes - it means a great deal to us that you took the time to share with us your feedback!
