Our recent trip to Italy was a great trip, much better than I had expected. No hitches at all, everything proceeded smoothly; it was very reassuring to travel, knowing that every step is well planned and efficiently organized. The accommodations were perfect for us with respect to quality, location and budget. Transportation was set-up so that it was a hassle-free and pleasant experience. We felt that our travel specialist did an excellent job tailoring our trip itinerary to meet all of our requirements. It was scheduled and sequenced in such a way as to maximize our vacation time. The trip seemed to last far much longer than the 2 weeks that we were off. I would gladly use the services of this travel agency again in an instant.
We had three, not to be missed highlights on our trip to Italy. The first being the gastronomic trek in Positano, where we had the opportunity to learn how to forage for wild plants and prepare a scrumptious three course meal with our found treasures. The organizers were very knowledgeable and charismatic hosts, teaching and showing us how to cook with locally sourced ingredients. The next high point of our trip involved a 4 hour sea kayaking tour in Sorrento. The experience was breath taking, informative and fun. The visit included swimming at a private beach, cliff diving, and visiting ruins along the way. It was a memorable and fun time. Our third most enjoyable event was the cooking day in Rome on the last day of our trip. Our host and chef and her assistant took us on a walking tour of a Roman food market and then invited us to prepare a wonderful meal of fresh hand made pastas and dessert in a private loft styled apartment on Tiber Island close to the Teatro Marcello in Rome. A delicious and very pleasant morning/afternoon was spent in the company of equally appreciative lovers of Italian Cuisine.
If I had to do it again, I would skip the tours of Tivoli gardens (Villa D'Este and Villa Adriana) and Herculaneum. I felt that the first was rushed and had very little experience to take home, and the second being slightly repetitive and less informative than other tours that we had been on. I would have tried harder to visit the garden of La Mortella on Ischia Island, but we had too much enjoyment of the hot water pool at our hotel.
