My name is Curtis D. My wife and I took 2 grandchildren and their spouses on a trip to Italy. Our tour was arranged by a tour company based in Rome. It was a marvelous trip, visiting Rome, the Amalfi Coast, Florence and other parts of Tuscany. But rather than tell you about our trip, I would like to tell you about this company, and the job that our agent and here people did for us.
When we first traded emails with our agent, we gave here and idea of the places we wanted to see and what our time frame was. Within days she sent us a trip outline, along with proposed hotels. We made a couple of minor changes and then communication virtually stopped until we left for Italy. It seemed too easy. But we landed in Rome and our driver greeted us at the airport where we picked up our travel packet and were furnished with a cell phone that we could use to call our agent. Off course, we didn't need it. There was never the slightest hiccup on our 10 days. Never a late driver, never a lost driver and always guides that were timely and well informed.
This was our second trip to Europe with grandchildren and both recommended tour operators performed flawlessly. This trip to Italy was so easy for us. Everything was arranged flawlessly.. A big thank you to our agent for a job well done.
The Amalfi coast was stunning. The hotel in Positano was as great a hotel as I've stayed at, now being 77 years old and fairly well traveled around Europe.
The tour of the Vatican Museum and the Sistine Chapel were a disappointment. It was like being in a herd of cattle. that's no criticism of our tour arranger.
Then another stunning highlight was Michelangelo's "David" in Florence. It is said to be the greatest scullpture in the world, and I believe that. It was a totally amazing anatomy lesson, with every vein, tendon, muscle, tendon and other body parts displayed accurately.
Besides that, the Tuscan countryside was a lush display of nature, with it's abundance of olive groves and vineyards.
We would skip Rome, even though it has a huge array of historical sites. We were early in the tourist season, but the crowds in Rome were unpleasant. I would instead add extra time in Positano and in Florence.
