I planned a 12 night/13 day trip to Italy for my parents. They visited 4 cities-- Venice, Florence, Positano and Rome. The trip was fantastic and my parents thoroughly enjoyed themselves. This was my first time using Zicasso and was not sure what to expect. The process was easy. Within a day or two of completing the online form, Zicasso matched me up with two travel companies. Both contacted me within a couple of days. With one travel company (not the one I used), the travel agent was initially responsive but then stopped responding. This was the company I ultimately worked with and our agent was great. Even though she was based in Italy, communication was still easy. At the beginning of the planning process she called me directly to talk and understand the type of trip I was looking for. The rest of the communication was by e-mail. She was always responsive and easy to work with. During the planning process she suggested a variety of excurions/tours so that I could select what was of most interest to my parents. The final itinerary was perfect.
In my parents words, "The challenges we had were few and will never compare to the wonderful experience we had. The excursions, the guides, the drivers were superb and sites breathtaking at every turn. In talking with each guide we learned what they had to do to become a certified guide and communication with all was easy. Each location was unique, I learned so much about Italian history it is mind boggling. The lodging in each city was 5 star. And what can I say about the food and wine.. magnifico!"
I would definitely use Zicasso again and would highly recommend this agent and her company
There were so many parts of the trip that were enjoyable it is hard to narrow it down.
People watching, having a glass of vino, getting lost, yes getting lost. Even that was fun. St. Marks Square in Venice was our center, in Florence, it was the Accademia Gallery, we visited so many different places-- the Coliseum, Roman Forums, Pompeii, The Vatican, the Sistine Chapel. All the museums were truly breathtaking - the Statue of David, there are no words. The list could go on and on. Oh one more thing, my husband was never a fan of ice cream, well gelato is now on the top of his list.
I threw a coin over my shoulder at the Trevi Fountain - assuring that we will return to Roma and Italy. There is still so much to see. And we found a great restaurant, off the beaten path, and the food was outstanding!
