My experience with this European travel agency was incredible. I have traveled quite a bit in my life (for both leisure and business) and have usually done so without assistance from a travel agent. When my wife and I decided to get married, we wanted to have a honeymoon we would never forget. Due to my job, I was unable to conduct my usual planning. Thus, I searched the internet and talked with my friends for assistance. As I was winnowing down my options, I came across Zicasso. I entered the details of what we were looking for and were referred to two different agencies. After vetting these two along with some personal recommendations, we decided to go with this agency and could not have been happier.
As an initial comment, I understand that when some people read these types of reviews, they question their authenticity. This experience was genuine, and I have this company to thank for it.
I worked personally with our agent and she was a delight. I outlined for her our expectations for timing and locations. She then designed an amazing itinerary including eight stops over the course of 20 days (exactly what we wanted). Not only did most of the hotels she recommended and booked exceed our expectations, but the primary issue I was concerned about (logistics in going to eight locations in 20 days) was taken care of without a hitch. Indeed, at every location, we were picked up and dropped off in a timely manner, even when planes or ferries were delayed . It got to the point where I never worried about our next adventure because everything had been planned out perfectly.
What impressed me most about this agency was that they adhered to their travel agreement, and provided me a discount based on the change in the value of the euro from the time we agreed to book the trip to when final payment was due. Though explicitly expressed in their agreement, it was still a surprise and great delight.
Finally, from talking to most of the hotels on our trip, I understand that this agnecy recommends the hotels because members of the company have actually visited them. To know that my travel agent had been to those locations before demonstrates that they know where they are sending us and what to expect.
For our trip, my wife and I visited Athens, Mykonos, Naxos, Santorini, Venice, Bologna, Portovenere (near Cinque Terra), and Cortona (Tuscancy). Every place was more beautiful than expected.
I think the part we loved most about Mykonos was our location. Mere steps to a couple of beaches and a 10 minute bus ride into Mykonos town. The location was exactly what we wanted.
In Naxos, we probably enjoyed the hotel the most, given how secluded it was. After our wedding, and non-stop traveling for about 10 days, it was the perfect time for some down time. With the amazing patio, gracious hosts, and superb food, we really enjoyed our stay just being lazy.
Santorini was one of the two major highlights of the trip. Our travel agency arranged for a catamaran ride around the Caldera and it was great. Not only did we meet some great people, but it may have been one of the best meals we had in Greece (and we had a few). We also arranged for a wine tour as well rented an ATV. Both great experiences.
In Venice, we really enjoyed the food. We went to some fantastic restaurants and had some very romantic dinners. We also went to Murano, which was what I anticipated Venice to be like, but without the tourists. It was quiet and beautiful.
For Bologna, the highlight was definitely the food tour, where we went to places that made Parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto, followed by an amazing meal in the Modena country side. The tour guide was great fun.
We really enjoyed Portovenere as well. Cinque Terra was beautiful, but we had a car, so our travel agency recommended to stay in Portovenere and then ferry to the Cinque Terra. We did that, but realized we actually really preferred Portovenere, so we spent an entire day exploring there, enjoying the beaches, and trying the different restaurants.
And finally, Cortona. Next to Santorini, this was our favorite place. We stayed at this amazing villa about a 10 minute drive from Cortona. The hotel was amazing, very spacious, with a pool and top-notch restaurant. We went wine tasting and just relaxed to end our honeymoon.
Each place was special, but Tuscany and Santorini really stood out.
Add a couple more days onto the trip given all the locations we visited.
