This travel company is amazing! We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a unique Thailand experience. In planning the trip (8 days, 9 nights -- Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Phuket), they listened to what we were looking for and made recommendations for an itinerary that would match our interests. They then planned and executed every element with great care and attention to detail, and provided expert guidance on culture so we could get the most out of the trip. Our family (2 parents and 2 college-age kids) wanted a trip that gave the 4 of us us ample time together, balanced our different interests, put us a bit out of our comfort zone, expanded our perspectives and didn't require us to manage logistics in advance or once we were in country. We chose this company because they impressed us as being personally committed to making us happy with our trip, and they exceeded our expectations at every turn.
Our agent's advance planning and excellent communication helped create a terrific framework for our journey in Thailand, and our guide's professionalism, warmth and graciousness elevated the day-to-day from "tour/visit" to "experience". We believe we got an outstanding value, as we had 8 days of unique, private experiences that blended history, culture, food, etc. to meet our individual needs without any logistical or other distractions.
Bangkok flower market and Old City walking tours with historical and cultural insights; floating market near Bangkok. Seeing the tens of thousands of people who came to the palace to pay their respects to the late King -- very moving. Our kids enjoyed getting their photo taken in front of the Bangkok police station featured in the movie "The Hangover II." Excellent lunches in restaurants we never would have found on our own, or in private homes. Day at an elephant sanctuary near Chiang Mai -- educational and fun; very hands-on and gave us the chance to see the elephants' different personalities. Day at a mountain village, where we hiked through hilly coffee plantations, learned about village life, met some residents, visited the local temple and ate an unbelievably delicious home-cooked meal. Lighting and releasing floating lanterns on New Year's Eve, watching our lanterns and those of thousands of other people rise into the night sky together. So many great memories!
We were very happy with our trip; having said that, we're not big shoppers so we might cut back on time for shopping and take a cooking class instead. But we did appreciate the opportunity to explore Thai specialty goods (silks, especially) and to purchase some unique souvenirs while supporting local artisans.
