Considering our problems with earlier Zicasso agents, our travel company did a fantastic job in a short amount of time. We really appreciate our agent's individual attention and all the efforts of everyone. We had our son, Aaron G, do most of the planning as he's the father of the two boys. This was his first experience in planning a family overseas vacation. It was also the boys first experience in traveling overseas and a wonderful learning experience for them.
Our grandsons, ages 10 and 13, enjoyed London of the three main ares we visited, The action and things to do for boys that age was most appreciated by them.
Bill and I feel the real highlight, especially for Bill, was the hot air balloon ride over Oxford.
Most of the planning was done between our son, Aaron G, and our agent. She had a good feel for what boys would enjoy seeing and doing. Examples were the Underground Edinburgh tour, the RIB ride in London, Warwick Castle and the hop on - hop off bus in London.
Our agent was able to listen to Aaron's ideas plus the 'older' two of the group thoughts and plan for everyone. She did a great job with all the places to see and do except, in our 'older' opinion, the way too long and in the middle of the day tour of Chelsea Stadium. With it's length and time we missed doing more of the must see places in London.
Five Stars for this company.
The only unforeseen by anyone was the fact that Evensong at St. Paul's in London did not have any music - no organ and no choir for 5:00 Evensong. This was one of Bill's main requests and neither we nor our agent checked to see about music. It seems that in July all the musicians are on vacation and the service consists of 15 minutes of readings.
Bill really enjoys music, especially boy choirs, and other forms of classical music, so this was a disappointment for him. In the future we all need ti check that performances are actually being preformed.
The only other comment was the last day in Scotland was a rainy day - typical of Scotland we know. unfortunately our driver was new and not well informed with the area and didn't have a plan B. She also wasn't to informed about the area we were driving through all day, so it was a quiet day driving through the rain. The boys (all four) caught up on their sleep.
Our other drivers in Scotland and Oxford were vey good and the gentleman in London was well informed and seemed to be able relate to us and especially the boys.
One small suggestion - since Aaron was in charge of most of the activities, specific suggestions for our evening 'pub crawl' would have helped a tired group.
TRAVEL COMPANY COMMENTS:
Thank you for your review and feedback.
As you mentioned, we listened to Aaron’s wish list and this visit was important to him and his boys. I agree with you, the time could have been spent with more sight seeing but we are happy your grandsons wishes were fulfilled!!
How very disappointing about the music. We did research this and emailed Aaron with all the times and events performing at St. Paul's Cathedral for you.
Regarding the guide/driver, last minute bookings are always a challenge as our favorite guides are always taken. I’m glad that the rest of the guides exceeded your expectations.
We love to give suggestions to our clients so we would have been happy to have offered suggestions for the pub crawl. We also encourage our clients to contact us at any point while traveling!
Thanks again and we hope to help you for a future trip!
