This was our first trip to Japan as a family of 3 with our teenage son. Everything was so well planned that travelling in a country that one does not speak the language was much easier than I expected. We were in the best of hands from the moment we arrived. Our guide organized all the reservations for the Shinkansen bullet trains, local trains, ferry etc. The hotel reservation cards, directions to our organized tours were always in English and Japanese. We had all the information we needed and could enjoy our personalized tour.
Our private tour guides were outgoing, informative and very open to sharing their experiences. A great team! It was also good to have time on our own to discover the various cities and sights.
The hotels were just perfect especially their close location to the train stations. Travelling with the JR rail passes is truly the best way to see the country. Long distances covered in such a short time allowed us to see a quite a bit within our 2 week trip.
Travelling in mid March worked well weather wise and we also got to see the plum blossoms.
Being able to travel this way gave us a chance to appreciate, enjoy and learn about the Japanese culture. It really was a trip of a lifetime. Amazing.
We highly recommend this company for your travel needs. You won't be disappointed!
Our most memorable parts of this trip were being able to fulfill our specific wishes such as, tour of Akihabara, Hiroshima and the museum. Having the best Okonomiyaki dinner there. Staying overnight on Miyajima at the ryokan. Lovely location, fantastic hospitality and meals. Having the time to hike to top of Mount Misen after taking the cable car up the mountain.
Spending 4 days in Kyoto, touring the city and Unesco world heritage site shrines and temples with our fantastic guide. The Golden Temple was breathtaking. Day trip to see the bamboo forest and Nara with it's bowing deer and largest Buddha statue.
Takayama and going on our bike tour in the Hida Furukawa mountainous area. The day was sunny and the tour guides spoiled us with a picnic.
Kanazawa discovering the city on our own. Personalized experience in the Phonograph museum.
Eating in all the specialized Japanese restaurants, shopping at local markets and shops. Seeing all the young high school students dressed in Kimonos to celebrate their graduation. Walking through the beautiful temple and palace gardens while the plum blossoms were in bloom.
Finally on our last day touring the Tsukiji Fish Market and making our lunch at the Tsukiji Sushi Workshop. So many incredible impressions and memories.
We would only stay in 1 Ryokan. It was too early in the season to stay overnight in Shirakawago at the second Ryokan. It was quite cold and wintery and the Ryokan would better suit a warmer time of year. A day trip would have been enough or extra time in Kanazawa.
We would definitely visit another area of Japan. There is still so much to discover.
