Every detail was well-organized. I never had a concern (well, only once) about a driver or tour not happening. One driver was 10 minutes late (to catch a train), so I asked the hotel staff to contact the company of the driver. The driver was already on the way, and apologized for being late.
The suggested places and tours were all excellent.
One suggestion, though, would be to let prospective female travellers know that they should bring a light-weight scarf for all walking tours, as shoulders need to be covered in churches. My niece was not allowed into one church, even though what she was wearing was no skimpier than what I was wearing. Having to pay for a piece of brown fabric to cover shoulders was a bit frustrating, especially when it wasn't something one would take home for future use.
Other than that, all went well.
Although the drivers in Rome are 'crazy', they don't honk their horns and make rude hand signs like we experienced in Paris. Everyone just 'goes with the flow', and it seems to work.
Loved the seaside hotel in Sorrento. Having a pool in the hot weather was fabulous, as well.
The hotel with a terrace for guests in Florence was great! The room layout was a bit different, at first, but we found that it worked really well in the end. We used the terrace many times, and enjoyed meeting people from around the world while enjoying a night-time drink.
The cooking class in Florence was great! It produced the best food we had in Italy.
Venice was very unique, and we were glad to have experienced it. It's not a place I would go to twice, but it's definitely worth visiting once. You must take the Grand Canal Tour - we saw and learned so much more than we would have on foot only.
Paris was a very pleasant surprise - it was cleaner than I was expecting, and friendlier, as well. I also found it quite walkable from our hotel. Once I learned how to use the Metro, I was able to get to further destinations quite easily.
I probably wouldn't go to Bologna or do the 'food experience' day. Bologna had a very different feel from Florence - people were not as friendly, and fewer spoke English. The day-long food tour (we booked this on our own - not through our travel company) sounded great on the Internet, and it was fine, but too long at all stops.
We started the trip in the south of Italy and worked our way north, eventually ending in England. Because Sorrento was the most relaxing place we visited (due to the amazing hotel and pool), it might have been better to reverse the trip and have this as the last stop. I'm not sure, though. We had better weather in Paris and London area in later July, whereas both places were very rainy a couple of weeks earlier.
*Note: The England portion of the trip was not booked through our travel company, but the Italy and Paris (only place visited in France) portions were.
