My family just returned from a two week trip to Europe. This agent and his associates organized and arranged the entire trip. Although, we have traveled abroad prior, I had very specific requests and ideas about what we wanted. They were able to accomplish them all. Our trip included travel to Rome, Florence, Venice, Salzburg and Munich. We had personal guides in Rome, Florence and Venice. These guides were crucial to making our trip more enjoyable on our limited time. They were excellent in explaining and showing us the sites. They went out of their way to get us into Cathedrals and museums ahead of everyone. It was obvious they knew the entrance personnel and let us in and through areas that otherwise we would have missed. They were keenly aware of what we wanted to see and just made it happen. By using the private guides, we didn't feel like we were one of the masses at the back of the crowd trying to hear or see the sites. It really made the trip. The leg of our trip in Salzburg, I explained to our agent that we could do private again for the Sound of Music tour....however he recommended we do the group tour and he was right on. We were on a great bus and the group was not too large. We loved participating in the sights and singing along with the crowd. On our Munich trip we did the same with a bus tour to the Castles. This again was perfect. The bus was really nice and the group was not too large. In Salzburg and Munich by opting for the bus tours we saved a bit of money and loved seeing the countryside. Each hotel our agent selected was in the perfect location. We were able to walk much of the trip as well as get around to restaurants and just feel the city we were in. Our drivers and escorts we had at each city made the transition from place to place seamless. The memories we created as a family will last a lifetime. So grateful for this agent and his company for helping us make this a perfect trip.
Our most enjoyable...... We have really been trying to answer that. For each of us it was a touch different. My 20 year old son loved the Statue of David in Florence, he said it was inspirational. I actually had thoughts about skipping Florence and our agent convinced me to not miss it. He was right. My 23 year old daughter loved Salzburg and the beautiful countryside. We encountered a bit of rain in Austria and Munich but it didn't stop anything or make it any less enjoyable. My husband and I agreed we could live in Florence or Salzburg. So the most enjoyable is so difficult to define. I was born in Germany and it was wonderful to take the family back to places I grew up seeing. We really loved the entire trip.
We traveled from Venice to Munich by airplane and then took a driver to Salzburg and then a train back to Munich. I probably would have looked closer at taking a night train from Venice to Salzburg but I am not sure it would have saved any time and taking a day train would have been great for sightseeing but would have taken too much day time hours. That really is the only thing I may have done different, however, we probably needed another day to make that transition a tad smoother. The total trip was 12 days with 2 travel days on each end.
