It was a trip of a life time; almost 4 weeks in Australia put together with expertise by this travel agent. She knew almost intuitively where to book us so we'd have the most incredible time in such a huge country. We weren't really sure what to expect of Australia though our itinerary sounded awesome. In actuality, our tour turned out better than we even anticipated. As a token of the travel company's appreciation we received a leather bound book of where we stayed which we've shown to friends and family and will always treasure. And our agent was always available to us but fortunately we only needed some advice from her one time due to worries about upcoming Cyclone Debbie, though fortunately in the end, it was "No worries, mate." Almost every day was a wonder and everything flowed seamlessly; amazing since we had 16 flights in 28 days! Every guide was ready for us, every driver and every hotel.
The private guides added a lot to our trip since they imparted so much knowledge and were enthusiastic about their country and all its history and beauty. One guide in particular we feel became a good friend of ours in the 2 full days we spent with him in Melbourne. We hope he takes us up on an invitation to visit to us in the states. Also, we had our first plunge pool experience on Lizard Island and now know what we've been missing! Staying in the over the top, to die for, all inclusive resorts was also most delightful as we normally don't stay in such luxurious accommodations. The staff at all of them were international and so friendly and professional in their attention. The the wine and food out of this world. We're truly spoiled now! And last but not least, seeing kangaroos and koalas and other critters in the wild plus feeding kangaroos and wallabies from my hand I will never forget. Tasmania and its people have a special place in our hearts. Possibly The Saffire Freycinet had a little something to do with that. :)
If I could go back and do it again I'd like one more day/night at the Daintree lodge as I mentioned to our agent in an earlier email because we only had a total of 36 hours there and our one full day was with our guide to the Daintree Rain Forest, which didn't allow us any time to enjoy the lodge and its lovely setting. Since we were able to see every state in Australia except for the Western Territory I'd add that if we'd had more time. Maybe next time?
