The team at this safari travel company from my initial conversations with their representative to working with our travel agent was the best in customer experience. The entire trip lived up and exceeded our expectations from the time we walked off the plane in Kilimanjaro to the time we boarded to return home. This company specializes in personalized attention throughout and it was impeccable. They know these camps well and know how to design to the client's desires and expectations.
We started with two nights at the beautiful and impeccable luxury of our lodge in Arusha to recuperate from the long flights from America. We then stayed at 3 Sanctuary camps in Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti, one a permanent camp and the other two mobile camps. We ended the trip back at the lodge to rest before our long flights home.
The entire trip was planned to perfection by this company except the commercial flights which we arranged. We would highly recommend, if possible, to fly first class. We flew from Washington to Addis Ababa and then to Kilimanjaro. Th intra-Africa charter flights, arranged by this company went perfectly.
The most memorable, as you would expect, was seeing all of the wild animals, most up close. We were amazed at how close we saw some of the animals including lions. We saw a lion on our first day, a male on our second but ended up seeing over 40 lions the entire trip including 6 males and 4 cubs. We completed seeing the big five while spotting a Rhino in Ngorongoro. Some of the other animals were leopards, cheetahs, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, elephants, hyenas, hippos, dikdiks, gazelles, bushbucks, blue jeans antelope, buffalo, baboons, blue monkey, vervet monkey, etc. The bird species were also amazing.
We were so happy with the quality of guides and the length and type of the safaris as well. We particularly liked the personal safari in an open-air safari jeep in Tarangire and the open-air jeep in Serengeti. To us, they were better than the closed safari vehicles that other safari companies used.
Of course, the tented camps also stood out with their highly personalized service, great food (particularly the soups) and attention by the staff of each of the camps. They made sure we always had what was needed including doing laundry which was done the same day it was picked up. If we go back, we could even pack less than the small amounts that we did.
The entire trip is one fantastic memory, never to be forgotten.
Frankly, nothing. The one thing a client may plan on their own is the commercial flights. If possible, fly first or business class but plan it early. We got our flights 9 months before our travel. One flight home was 17 hours and being in economy 17 hours would be quite difficult. the other recommendation is to stay somewhere before the actual safaris take place and at the end. It made a big difference to have the nights at lodge. The travel company held our hand and provided all of the information needed throughout the entire process. The other recommendation is to get your visa prior to going and also contact your doctors early enough for the appropriate vaccinations. We did this and it made all go smoothly.
