I found this agent and her team to be very responsive. Before my trip, my emails were answered in a timely manner and once I was in Italy, my agent sent a message everyday to see how the excursions went. Each driver not only showed up on time, but tended to be there five-ten minutes early, all of the hotels had my information ready upon arrival, the tour guides and drivers were very knowledgable about the areas being covered and was evident that they enjoyed their jobs and sharing their experiences with visitors in the country. The itinerary was clear and detailed and as discussed, was a good mix of relaxation, sightseeing and adventure seeking. I also found the packet of information that I received in preparation for the trip, outlining the different areas I would be visiting, sights, restaurant and cafe recommendations, etc to be particularly helpful.
I very much enjoyed the tour of Florence with my tour guide, she was very knowledgable about the area after having been a guide for over twenty years! The drive through the Almalfi Coast was beautiful and the driver was very personable, also the gozzo tour around Capri was lovely. I also really enjoyed the cooking class in Tuscany. As I stated before, everything that was planned, went off seamlessly, I didn't have to wait for a driver, a tour guide or an excursion leader. The activities were very well managed.
I think that I would have picked different hotels for my stay in Florence and Sorrento. In Florence, I was placed in a room that overlooked the piazza but didn't have any sound insulation to block the noise coming from outside and no opaque curtains to block the light coming into the room, making it impossible to sleep. In Sorrento, I was given a room that was on the sub lower level of the hotel, making it almost cave-like and one in which I was adjacent to the outside space where wedding receptions were being held for two days in a row. One actually had to walk through the guests to get to the room. I also found the customer service and level of cleanliness in those two hotels unsatisfactory and leaving much to be desired considering the hotel ratings. To my agent's credit, once I alerted her of the issue, she contacted staff on my behalf and helped to facilitate a room change in both situations. She explained to me that she simply books the room and doesn't control which ones are given to guests. However, the situations with the hotels did put a damper on an otherwise bright trip.
