Zicasso connected us with this travel agency and I have nothing but great things to say about them. Our family trip to Italy couldn't have been better! Our agent called right away to talk about the details. My husband and I had a running list of things we wanted to do and see but with our trip only being 9 days it was going to be tough. I gave him the list which included Vatican City, the Colosseum, the statue of David, the Amalfi Coast and Pompei. He put together a suggested itinerary about a day later which included a private driver and tour guides in each city. Our trip was absolutely fantastic! I loved the personal attention and care we received from our driver to our personal guide and our agent was available throughout our time in Italy if we had questions or needed help booking a restaurant. On the way home there happened to be a airline workers strike and when we went to get our boarding passes there was literally no one around. My daughter and I ended up missing our flight but I simply called our agent and he was on it. He worked for hours to find us alternate travel home on the same day but we with the strike there was nothing available until the next day. So he suggested some other options for us and then booked a room for us. It was a perfectly planned trip. Our agent really went above and beyond. This company really blew us away!
Your overall comments on Zicasso
I compared Zicasso ratings against many other tour companies, Zicasso had the highest recommendations and fewest complaints so I chose Zicasso. It was such a great experience I will ONLY use Zicasso when planning our next trip.
In Rome we had a private tour guide who we just loved! She was well versed in Roman history and was a wealth of information. She took us through Vatican City and the Sistine Chapel and we got an in-depth look at the Colosseum and walked all around inside. In Tuscany we stayed at a real castle that was transformation into a gigantic vineyard with beautiful gardens. Our girls loved exploring all the different castle rooms. In Amalfi we hiked 7K along the Path of the Gods and got to see some unbelievable views of the coast. We visited Il Convento, an organic Limoncello producer where we received a private tour of their orchards and a wonderful tasting of all their different products from olive oil to aperitifs.
We flew into and out of Rome. I purchased the tickets before the itinerary was set and it was going to cost $3000 to change our flight home from Rome to Naples so we ended up driving for a good part of the day to get to the airport.
I would allow for two extra days in Rome. We literally did everything in one day so we weren't able to spend as much time as we would have liked at Vatican City.
I would schedule a stop at the Naples museum to see the Pompeii exhibit. I thought the actual city would have just as many artifacts (if not more) as the museum but that was not the case. In fact most of the items I wanted my kids to see were actually at the Naples museum.
