I am not sure where to start. Our travel agent from the start made sure that everything we wanted to see (and more) where on our itinerary. He set up phone calls, emailed frequently and we revised our trip throughout the process. Everything was set up and taken care of. We had a pick up from the airport (our personal guide), rooms booked at 2 destinations, transportation to and from all the sites and a history lesson the entire time. We explored the southern coast of Iceland and i have never seen anything like it. I have a Geology background and I have only seen Iceland in books and they do not do the country justice. At one point I couldn't find the guide for our food walk (my fault) and i called our agent and he was willing to come and get us to take us to the location. How awesome is that?! He got a hold of the food tour company and they were waiting for us at our first destination. Did I mention i was on my Honeymoon? She was so thrilled we chose Iceland as our first place to go as husband and wife.I still think of our guide and all the sites we saw everyday. That's how much fun and beautiful the country and how nice the people are. Our private guide was amazing. He knew all the great spots, when to see them, the history and he was so much fun to talk too. We both enjoyed wood working and i told stories about it while he schooled us on Iceland. We couldn't have had a better guide. We went on hikes, glacier walks, walked through caves, waterfalls and all the natural wonders of the island. He was with us the entire time to take us around the Island. It was so much fun. We really got to know him and i consider him a friend now. Oh, when say glacier walking and caving, You get suited up. Its not a regular "Hike" wear the right clothes which our agent will tell you. Our guide will give you teh run down of the weather that day and what he suggests a plan of attack for the tour.We also had an all-terrain vehicle which could go ANYWHERE!! IT was awesome. I could go on and on. We will be back and you can be sure this agent and guide will be in the picture. Thank you all for an amazing experience and a trip of our life.
All of it. One part that sticks out is he pointed out part of the glacier WAYYYYYYYYYYY up in the distance and he drove us t a safe stopping point. Ofcourse "me", "I must get closer" so we did, We crossed a little man made 2x6" bridge, well 2 of them and it was running water underneath, "it was safe" but awesome. We got as close as we could and just stared. It was awe inspiring. then we went to this light house and the winds where fast, i mean fast. It was so much fun to try and stand up and the view off the cliffs where the great guide always pointed out his Little Island he was born on, which we where always happy to talk about. We also crossed small rivers, i recorded all of them. I mean, the how trip was memorable but these really stand out to us.
Explore more of the Island and stay at the hotel in Skalakot again. We loved that little hotel. They are so welcoming you feel part of the family and there is a mountain in the backyard. As far as this trip is concerned, I'd change nothing.
