We travelled to Athens (one night), Crete (4 nights) and Santorini (three nights) with another couple. First, we did not know much about Greece, so our agent took the time to speak to us prior to planning the trip to get an idea of who we were and what we wanted out of a vacation. Together we decided which islands we wanted to visit and for how long (which was the key to the vacation). Days later he came back to us with an excellent itinerary. We made minor adjustments and the rest was history. Our agent worked with us to stay within our budget and was friendly and informative along the way.
During our trip we stayed in amazing accommodations and the people treated us like royalty. We especially loved the AVLI in Greece. We had the right amount of planned activities and rest/relaxation time. All of our tour guides were on time, informative and extremely friendly. Our agent made excellent recommendations for places to eat and adventures to experience. In Crete we hiked the Samaria Gorge and swam in the Libyan Sea, in Athens we went on a guided tour of the Acropolis, in Santorini we took a sail boat cruise to the volcanic island and swam in the hot springs (to name a few). Logistically the trip was seamless. Our agent did an excellent job of coordinating ferries and rental cars and tours, etc. We never felt unsafe or like we did not know what was coming. There was always someone waiting for us with a sign right when we arrived. We got to where we needed to be effortlessly.
The trip was a success and we were able to enjoy our selves because of the excellent work of Zicasso/Our travel company. In fact, we left our passports on Crete and only discovered this when we were in Crete. Our agent handled the whole situation with grace and allowed us to enjoy our trip. The next day we had our passports in hand!!! Someone was always available to answer our questions, if we had any.
I could not recommend this agent and his company more, I give theman A+.
I enjoyed the AVLI in Crete and all of the cast of characters that worked there. Everyone was friendly and helpful and the food was excellent - we ate there three out of four nights.
I also loved hiking the Samaria Gorge, swimming in the Libyan Sea and taking the ferry back. It was a tough hike, but worth waking up early.
Santorini was spectacular. It was beautiful, the weather was bad one day and we felt it was a little touristy, but it was a must see. We really enjoyed Santorini Sailing and our captain and crew. Aumadi Bay was so authentic and beautiful.
I would probably spend less nights in Santorini. I enjoyed seeing it, but it was a little touristy. It might have been better to stay a little out of the town. when we hiked from Fira to Oia there was a little town closer to Fira that seemed out of the fray of the touristy shops and was a little more mellow.
Next time, I want to see some of the other islands!
