Our travel agent was very helpful in guiding us to plan the vacation that was right for us. He offered his suggestions but also listened to our wants and needs for our trip. The overall trip was exactly what we had hoped it would be. A wonderful journey to a far away land that we had only dreamed of. France was everything we could imagine and more. I only wish we would have had longer. We were not ready to leave. Our travel agent's suggestions for tours and guides were instrumental in showing us all we could see in the time we had to see it all. From the day trips to the recommendations of what to make sure we did not miss gave us everything and more for our trip! Our agent was very prompt in responding to emails and was gracious to answer every question, fear, or concern we had. I would recommend this company to any of my friends looking to plan a trip overseas. The one thing that we did not like much was the selection of the hotel. The area was fine, we enjoyed the Latin Quarter, however, we had a few issues with the staff being rude (and before you ask, I always greeted them with a smile and a bonjour -- my french is very limited, but I really tried). The room was exceptionally small, the air conditioning did not work well, and if you are claustrophobic, the elevator was a nightmare. The other thing that struck us as strange was that when we left the hotel they required that the key be turned back in to the front desk...never had that request from other hotels. Also the included breakfast was really bad (after the hotel we had in Bayeux which was amazing), the breakfast in Paris had spoiled meat, stale croissant and a very rude person taking care of the items...after day one, we choose to skip the free breakfast... We would definitely not want to stay at that Paris hotel again.
The day trip to Mont St. Michel was perfect. It was a small group (4 of us) and our wonderful guide. We had a scenic drive to Mont St. Michel, learned much of the history of how it came to be. And then the guided tour of the Abbey was great! It is a must do for anyone traveling to France.
The Full Day US beaches tour in Normandy was humbling. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and was a joy to be with for the day. The weather was a little gloomy with the occasional rain show, but our guide made the whole experience great! This is a must for anyone with an interest in the history of WWII.
The trip to Versailles was good just wish it would have been longer. Knowing now what we know, we definitely would have done a full day tour rather than a half day.
One of the best things of the trip, having a private driver! This made the whole experience very relaxed and easy having someone taking us rather than trying to figure out where to go and how to get there. Our driver was a God send meeting us the day we landed and taking us to Bayeux and then to Paris a few days later.
The sites of Paris, all of them.. everything was incredible.. must sees: St. Chappelle, Notre Dame, The Louvre, Musee d'Orsay.... just amazing.. again.. we needed more time!! 11 days was just not enough..I wanted more!!
More time. I would want to see other regions, maybe other day trips. But mostly, more time.
