It's been a while since our family consulted a travel company especially since my siblings and I grew older, we learned to plan travels on our own. For our first time in Europe though, we weren't sure if we could do it especially as our parents and aunt have gotten older. After doing some research online and choosing between local and foreign travel agencies, I'm very glad with my decision picking this travel company through Zicasso.com over the others. Just during the initial planning, I'm already impressed with how they wanted to know each of the family members' profiles so that they could customized it better. Our travel agent was able to adjust our itinerary based on our needs and requests. If he couldn't make my request work, he'd suggest something even better. The Itinerary presentation is very professional and well-done. Being a mixed asian family, we also needed a multilingual tour guide which they were able to provide us with. We were able to see the best of Germany and Prague with the tour. The contrast between the towns and cities were beautiful, each had their own beauty. Because it was also during Christmas and New Year, the company made sure that we experience the best Christmas markets and the amazing fireworks in Berlin.
Everyday was a good day! But I'd say some of the most memorable parts of the trip were the tour in Heidelberg, Prague and Berlin. The company hired local expert guides in almost each of the cities and towns to share with us the history and even legends of the landmarks. Let's say they were all very interesting and had lots of insights. The town of Heidelberg had this amazing Christmas Market and university town. I liked the most the student prison and the old castle above with the view of the town. Experiencing Prague personally justified why everyone I knew keeps telling me it's their favorite European City. Not only did it feel like a big city, it also felt like a town. The history of the St. Vitus Church and the bridge plus all the modern restaurants and stores made it everything felt surreal. My Dad and I went for morning walks during the early mornings when the streets were empty, It was amazing. Lastly, Berlin doesn't disappoint. Being a city kind of guy, I'm always looking forward to visit the big cities of different countries. And it was awesome to spend the New Year there! Fireworks went on til 1 am. The landmarks of the city were so rich in history. Other places that we visited were also nice including Dresden, Rothenburg and Fussen.
My family was so happy when we got upgraded into a big bus for 9 people especially since we had huge luggages. Our tour director also went beyond his work and treated us like family. He was able to do the tour in English and Chinese which was a win-win for the half of the family. He also made sure we were always okay and had us experience local stuff that we wouldn't experience on a big tour. Patiently took family photos every part of the trip and fought for tables at the restaurant since we were a big family. Our driver was also very patient, never any complaints. There were times when it was hard to park the bus especially in the city. Overall the whole team and company made everything felt so smooth as they took care of everything for us. We felt travelling with a family instead of a tour agency.
I would extend the trip for a month (not possible but dream on). Add Austria and Hungary.
