Our trip to New Zealand was incredible! We had lived there in the ‘70s, when our children were babies. They had seen all the pictures and heard all the stories, but alas, had no memories of their own. We dreamed for years that maybe someday a return trip could happen, and that our whole family (all 10 of us!) could go with us to see beautiful NZ again.
The founder and co-owner of this travel agency made our dream come true! In spades! We could not have asked for better arrangements, accommodations, and overall coordination especially the air reservations. Our travel agent took our wish list and created a highly detailed, personalized itinerary which fit perfectly with our travel window, the wide range of ages (11-72), and assorted exploration preferences. She made numerous thoughtful suggestions to help our decision-making at each step of the way. Oh, and did I mention, on budget!
Our travel agent “followed” our trip to ensure that we made all of our connections as planned. She even arranged dinner reservations over a holiday weekend so that we wouldn’t be stranded without a meal! When bumps in the road appeared (as they always will, such as airline schedule changes), in every instance our agent was in front of the change and handled the re-arrangements immediately, all the while communicating with us during our trip, in real time. There are not enough superlatives to describe the fantastic job this travel agent did. She really is a magician! Our trip was a fabulous experience we will remember and share for the rest of our lives, and we simply cannot thank our agent enough!
Our time in New Zealand was essentially a road trip from Auckland to Queenstown. For us that is the best way see and experience a place. We like stopping in little towns, trying the foods, chatting with the people, seeing the sights.
Our whole group agrees that New Zealand is the most beautiful place on Planet Earth with something for everyone to enjoy. From the jewel of a city, Auckland, along the too-green-to-be-real rolling hills with grazing sheep, beautiful Lake Taupo, to the Waitomo Caves full of glow worms, hiking the volcanoes at Tongariro, vast mud flats at Rabbit Island near Nelson, kayaking at Awarora Inlet, the crashing surf and the Pancake Rocks on the west coast of the South Island, glaciers, giant ferns, the Southern Alps, to Queenstown, beautiful lakes and the Bungy jumping, truly something for everyone!
This trip was planned to show our family the places in New Zealand where we lived and enjoyed visiting. To accomplish our mission, we drove from Auckland to Queenstown (flew from the North Island to the South Island to save time) and spent nights in six different locations from which we traveled locally to see the sights.
On our next trip, we plan to spend more time in fewer places so we can relax and enjoy more of that local area. The challenge is to decide which one or two or three places to choose!
