Could not have done it without Zicasso and Daniella!
My family and I (two 14 year-old daughters, and my husband), travelled to Italy in June/July of this year, and had an incredible time. Daniella, our tour operator, arranged everything for us, from hotel stays to activities to rental cars, and everything was terrific. We wanted to have a trip that gave us enough time for ourselves, and for wandering and exploring on our own, yet wanted enough structured time to really get an understanding of Italy since this was our first trip there. This trip was the perfect balance of those two things. Our (personal) guides at each town and city were outstanding; deeply knowledgeable of their subject matters and passionate about what they were talking about, whether it was a tour of the Vatican and its art, or a hike through Chianti's vineyards, or a cooking class in Tuscany. Outside of a couple of "group" tours that were less interesting, we were blown away by the caliber of those guided experiences.
The trip felt seamless, as everything was organized so well, and when we did run in to little hiccups, Daniella was always available to help smooth things out for us, and always in the nicest way. Our accommodations on the trip were not super fancy, as our budget was not deluxe, but all the places we stayed were charming and inviting. We visited Rome, Tuscany, Cinque Terre, Florence and Venice, and each stay was long enough to really enjoy the surroundings and feel relaxed. Because we had never been to Italy, we didn't quite know what to expect, and I must say that I could never have planned such a magical, well-organized adventure on my own. Can't say enough good things about Zicasso and Daniella's excellent guidance. Our family will have memories for a lifetime and we are so thankful to her for making those memories so special.
Hiking the trails in Cinque Terre, through the vineyards high above the sea. Cooking classes in Florence and Tuscany. Lunch with our guide Marco and his family, in their backyard by the river after a great hike in Chianti. Dinner at il Ridotto in Venice. The Vespa tour through Rome. Getting lost in the rain on Aventino and taking refuge from the storm in the church.
I would allow more time to wander and get lost in the different places we visited. And now that we have seen so many of the "must-see" things, I would go further off the beaten path, look for less touristy spots, more nature, more interaction with the local people.
