After years of researching, planning and scheduling our own vacations, I decided that due to time constraints and the complexities associated with the trip we wanted to take, that we needed to reach out to a travel company to help us plan our trip to France. We found Zicasso online and completed a profile and were referred to this agency to plan our trip. Our travel planner was extremely helpful, professional, knowledgeable and patient in asking questions to help guide the experience. After reviewing several iterations of the itinerary, we settled on a fabulous 10-day journey to Burgundy, Lyon, Bordeaux. Paris and Champagne. The travel team is highly professional and organized. After the itinerary was confirmed and deposits made, we worked with a travel company team member, who facilitated our trip details including reservations for hotels, transportation, tours and even making dinner reservations on our behalf. She was also available during the trip to take care of us.
Not having any other travel company experience to compare it to, I can only say that we found their service to be incredibly helpful and felt that we received value for the investment. We would definitely use them again.
There are so many wonderful and memorable parts of this trip. Our private guide in Burgundy did a fantastic job at taking the time to really explain the complexities of Burgundy winemaking. That was a fabulous day. We loved the town on Beaune! We had an unbelievable Michelin two-star meal in Lyon that we won’t soon forget. The beauty of the French country side in Burgundy and Champagne and the overall size of the Burgundy region (much smaller than we thought) and Champagne (much larger than we thought).
The one suggestion I would make is to ask a few more questions regarding tour preferences. This trip for us was primarily about Wine (and food). We have taken many trips to California, Oregon, Washington, and New Zealand specifically for wine. We are used to private tours. I would suggest asking more questions about the type of tour experiences we preferred. I must have misunderstood their language in the itinerary and assumed the tours were private. We had a fabulous private tour experience in Burgundy. The remaining tours in Bordeaux (a full-day in St Emilion and a half-day in Medoc) and full day in Champagne – were small group tours. Nice but not the same experience as a private tour. We would have gladly paid the difference for a private tour had we known. Just a miscommunication for which we share the responsibility.
