Despite some hurdles, our trip to Argentina was exceptional and sets the bar even higher for our future vacations. Our travel agency provided us with an itinerary far better than what we initially planned. Their attention to detail and understanding exactly what we wished to see and do, made the experience very memorable. At the start, the vacation was planned for November 2015, however due to personal circumstances, we had to delay the trip until June 2016. The agency was able to adjust and improve our vacation with little to no hassle.
We decided to visit two places, Mendoza for the wineries and Andes mountains and Buenos Aires for the historical influences. Our stay in Mendoza was at a winery. This was definitely a unique place, different from the conventional hotel. However, it was an amazing experience and one we would definitely love to revisit. In Buenos Aires we stayed at a boutique style hotel with all the amenities needed, in addition to being in the middle of one of the nicest parts of Buenos Aires.
The vacation entailed the following:
1. Mendoza - A gourmet cooking class with one of Mendoza's best chefs; Private wine tour of 3 wineries - tasted some of the best Malbecs in Argentina; and a High Mountain tour - private tour driving through scenic mountain landscapes of the Andes2.Buenos Aires - private tour through historic areas; walking tour - private guided tour of the Parisian influence on Buenos Aires.
The vacation allowed us to enjoy the local culture, gastronomy, wines, and historical architecture, in addition to having an opportunity to experience the grandeur of the Andes mountains and the majestic Aconcagua mountain during winter season.
Given that the entire trip was a memorable one with a variety of experiences, the one that stood out a bit, and apart from the delectable Malbec wines, was the day trip in the Andes mountains. The majesty of this mountain chain forming the backdrop of the Mendoza wine region stands out as one of the most beautiful natural wonders.
If I could re-plan the trip, I would definitely add at least 2 more days in both Mendoza and Buenos Aires. Splitting the vacation between two locations may have caused us to miss out on exploring more of what each has to offer.
