Our travel company was easy to work with and we absolutely loved out trip. If we took this trip again, we would do things a little different, but overall our experience with this company was excellent. We had a few mishaps while in country and they were quick on responding to our problems and made sure we were taken care of.
They provided us a itinerary book that spelled out everything that we were going to do. Including our Air travel, Places we were staying at, A good packing list and much more.
We are truly pleased with how everything went and would recommend them.
The first part of the trip we stayed in a actual Maasai Hut for two nights, of course it had modern plumbing, but everything else reflected how the Maasai lived. We hiked Mt. Kilimanjaro to 10,000 feet to the second base camp. It would take 8 days to get to the summit and we didn't sign up for that. It was fun to just hike.
The second part we went on Safari for 4 days, where we stayed in tents, again with plumbing, even a shower. We saw every animal you could think of and even got close to some of them. Bonfires in the evening and we had the most amazing sunsets and sunrises.
The third part we stayed at working farm and had fresh vegetables for meals, it was wonderful. We traveled down in the Ngaruroro Crater for more safari fun and saw lots of different animals again to include watching some lions go after some wildebeest, it was exciting. We were able to capture this on video.
The fourth part we stayed in Zanzibar for 4 days for rest and relaxation at the a Club & Spa. We did the Spice and Slave tours there.
The fifth and final stay was in Dar Salam for 3 days to go back in time for my husband to see his old stomping grounds. His father was a professor at the University of Dar Salam and he lived there for two years in the 60's. We went back to the house that he used to live in and met the new person, who let us tour the grounds and take pictures. It was wonderful.
Overall we had a great trip and would do it again!
We've done the Maasai hut, however fun wouldn't do that leg again and would stay closer to Mt. Kilimanjaro, we were two hours away from out hike and had stated that we wanted to be closer, but don't think that the travel company heard us on that request. Next time we would stay at the base of the Mountain.
That is really it, again, the whole trip was great.
TRAVEL COMPANY COMMENTS:
Thank you very much for a wonderful review! We work really hard to organize every detail of our clients’ safaris. It means so much to us that you were pleased with your safari, loved your trip and that your experience with us was excellent.
I understand the disappointment you must have felt that it took longer than you wanted to get to the start point of your Kilimanjaro hike. The roads are bumpy and rustic, and there are no proper hotels right at the launch point of the hike we arranged for you. When traveling to remote areas in developing countries, our first priority is client safety. We insist on partnering solely with reputable companies that have an impeccable track record of keeping guests safe as it pertains to food, water and physical security. Unfortunately, there is no closer, suitable option offered in that particular location.
Because of your experience, we have already instituted a new procedure to ensure problems like this do not reoccur. We will do a better job communicating the lack of options in that particular area that you visited and we will explain more comprehensively to future guests that if they want to incorporate a Kilimanjaro day hike into their itinerary, they will face a couple of hours in the vehicle each way to access this amazing landmark. We thank you for sharing your feedback with us, so we can improve the service we provide to our valued clients.
We are delighted that your game viewing was also phenomenal and that you got to experience the lions hunting the wildebeests, which is always a thrill. We are also ecstatic to hear that your husband was able to visit his old home from the 1960's in Dar es Salaam. That must have been an emotional moment for him after being away from Tanzania for so many years.
Thank you again for your wonderful review and feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve, and we see this as a perfect opportunity to do just that!
