I was interviewing several Travel Agents for our trip to Africa/South Africa. After many, many emails and comparisons, I decided to hire this agent from. Our agent was terrific, she gave us good advice and guidance and answered many questions from us. At one point, the Owner contacted us to see what he could do to help us make the decision to choose this company. Having a small business, that made me feel that the Owner was very hands-on and very involved in the day to day operation of his company. That was the final confirmation that helped me choose this company for this wonderful trip.
From the moment we stepped off the first plane, we knew we were in good hands. At each and every interval of our trip, we had people meeting us to transfer us to our next destination, or we had knowledgeable guides picking us up to do a tour in the area. Each and every aspect was flawless. We had 4 internal flights and we had transfers to and from each location. In every instance, the people we there waiting for us, even if we were a bit early. Just a wonderful feeling that we were being well taken care of.
Our accommodations were first class all the way. We stayed in 4 different hotels, 2 lodges/camps and a 2 night rail excursion.
Our guides were very knowledgeable and friendly and made us feel very comfortable. The tours were enjoyable and informative.
We really enjoyed Safari at Londolozi. The camp, the guides and the whole experience were just beyond belief. I would recommend this to anyone. We had great safari experiences, met some wonderful people and our guide and tracker were just terrific. The food was really good and the setting each night was wonderful. Our room was delightful and very large with a wonderful bath. We had a private outdoor pool and the rooms were free standing and in the middle of the bush. As we sat on our deck, we saw Springbuck and Impala grazing on the trees surrounding us. There were many monkeys on site as well - and they were very mischievous. Really a wonderful experience. Our guide and tracker made sure that we saw the Big Five, however, we saw much more.
The Rovos Rail was quite nice as well. The accommodations were very good, the service was terrific and the food was very good. the countryside was interesting and it changed many times in our ride from Pretoria to Cape Town.
Our stay in Victoria Falls at the Victoria Falls Safari Club was also very nice. Really nice accommodations, great food, plenty of wine, etc. We toured the falls with the Club and we went on a sunset cruise which was delightful.
Cape Town is just a joy. Our hotel upgraded our room and we had a delightful view of Table Mountain. The concierge was really wonderful. She make reservations for us at some very special place in Cape Town. We had a peninsula tour and that was just great. Cape Town is really different from the other parts of Africa that we visited. It is really unique.
We stayed Franschouk in The Winelands. This property is just delightful. It is located in the Village and in walking distance to shops, restaurants and just beautiful scenery. Our room was very nice and the breakfast each morning was lovely.
The hotel in Johannesburg was simply wonderful. It was our first night in South Africa, we had a lovely room, and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the hotel. Truly a lovely hotel.
We also enjoyed the hotel in Pretoria. We had a lovely suite there with dinner and breakfast the next day. We also had a half day tour on our way to the train station for the rovos Rail.
We really enjoyed each and every location that we stayed in and our accommodations were superb.
On the trip from Victoria Falls to the Kruger area, I feel there should have been a better option for getting us there. We did miss on safari ride, as we arrived to camp so late. We also spent the entire day travelling, and we had to get a visa to fly out of Zambia as we were in Zambabwe. However, I am sure we could have taken a flight to Johannesburg from Zambabwe and then a plane to the airstrip at Londolozi (which is what we did on our departure). We took a flight from the airstrip to Johannesburg.
I would have preferred to have 2 nights in Victoria Falls as well.
