My husband and I recently took a trip to southern Italy. We wanted an experience that was off the beaten path, and centered around the food, wine, and culture of Sicily and Puglia. We are so grateful to have worked with our travel planners from this tour company - it was the most incredible trip, surpassing our greatest expectations! From our initial conversation it was clear that our planners had a passion for everything Italy, and we knew right away that working with them was the best choice. They worked tirelessly to create a custom, one-of-a-kind trip just for us that immersed us in places we never would have thought to visit – true hidden gems of southern Italy. My husband and I were especially impressed with the fact that each and every accommodation, immersive experience, and tour had been vetted and hand-selected by a tour company's staff member, resulting in a personalized, romantic trip that we will never forget!
The most enjoyable and memorable parts of our trip happened when we went exploring. The tour company created a balanced itinerary of scheduled activities and down-time. On the days that nothing was scheduled, they gave us a number of local places to visit, accompanied by a brief description of each. For instance, while staying in Scopello our planners suggested several local beach towns to choose from, ranging from a secluded nature reserve to a lively port town. Having the ability to choose, but also the inside scoop on local restaurants and attractions, was very helpful. We especially enjoyed the delicious food and wine everywhere we went – food was a very important part of our trip, and this tour company didn’t disappoint! The best meal we had was at the 17th century castle. Not only was the castle itself magical, but the tasting menu was inventive, playful, and delicious!
This is a difficult question to answer, because we loved every minute of our trip. This tour company anticipated our every want and desire that we never knew we had. If I had to choose, I would have spent a few nights in Polignano A Mare. We were smitten by the white-washed buildings, crystalline water, and overall feel for the town. It was fun to explore for a few hours, but I could definitely see myself staying in a relais overlooking their infamous beach!
