This tour company was easy to work with. They responded to my questions and needs promptly and effectively. The many choices of hotels and tours and restaurants that they recommended were, for the most part, spot on. Once they had recommended a plan, I tried to improve upon it. They were very helpful and cooperative in that effort--even though it turned out that their original recommendations were superior to my attempted "improvements," and we went back to the original. I should have trusted their judgment from the beginning, and I'm sure trying alternative plans when they have already provided the best choices to a customer must be frustrating--though they never allowed me to feel that way. Every bit of our experience with this travel company was wonderful. Weather did not permit us to take part in one of the guided activities on our agenda, and they made sure that the refund for this was given long before we headed home.
We'd never been to South Africa before (or even in that region). The lodges that we stayed at on this trip were wonderful (particularly the Dulini River Lodge in Sabi Sands). The safaris there and in Botswana were great, as were the additional cultural visits that we did to the townships and villages along the way. Highlights included: Apartheid Museum, Soweto Township visit, Table Mountain, Cape of Good Hope, the wine tram experience, cruising the Zambesi River, all of our safaris (so many game drives), and all the wonderful people that we met along the way.
We would still visit Victoria Falls, but would try to get this accomplished in a single day (cruise on Zambezi River, walking tour of the Falls, helicopter ride), and would have stayed at a better hotel there. This is a high tourist area and did not match well with the quality of the rest of the trip (which took us to Johannesburg, Cape Town, the southern coast of South Africa, Frankenhoek, Kapama Game Reserve, Sabi Sands, and the Chobe Game Reserve). Victoria Falls is spectacular and well worth seeing, but the surrounding area is crowded and touristy so not our cup of tea.
