The trip was a wonderful introduction to South Africa. While its brevity did not allow for us to spend much time off the beaten path, it certainly left us wanting to return. The Cape region has plenty to offer and commands several days to explore on its own. The Whale Coast and its fynbos provide the perfect respite from city life with its idyllic panoramic views and unique fauna and flora. Franschoek and its surrounding vineyards and rolling hills transport you to a bucolic atmosphere reminiscent of Europe much more than Africa. The Sabi Sand Game Reserve is truly an ideal place for a first safari, with the privacy afforded to see the animals in the confines of their natural environments in such close proximity that it is hard to fathom.
Our safari tour operator was prompt, responsive, and receptive to my requests. The company was also well-organized. The transitions from place to place during the trip were seamless and timely. Only minor qualm: the particular driver assigned to us, while extremely punctual and professional, seemed at times more preoccupied with running things on his own schedule rather than accommodating our very small requests on a tight schedule. That being said, this is in no way a reflection of the company.
I would recommend this company without reservation and would certainly consider using them again for further trips to South Africa.
The safari in Sabi Sands
I would allocate 1-2 more days in Cape Town and also add 1 more day in Franschoek. But, this was just a function of limited vacation time.
