Our trip was absolutely perfect all the way around. Our guides met us promptly at the airport or hotels and spoke English very well. The only issue we had was with one hotel that was a 2 Star and totally sub par to all the other hotels we stayed at. We made our own arrangements to upgrade to a nicer hotel and we were then satisfied with our accomodations. Our travel company then reimbursed us the difference between the 2 Star and the 3 star hotel. I would recommend this company for sure.
The hotel in the Amazon was beautiful and the food was terrific. Our guides were friendly and fun to be around.
I would try and adjust to the altitude in Cusco another day or so before climbing the Inca Trail.

The hotel in Cusco, which you had agreed to book, is a 3 Star Hotel. You booked it as such and arrived in full knowledge that it was a 3 star hotel and subsequently expressed that you did not like the hotel. We spoke at night and agreed that the next day we would find an improved hotel. Next morning, without our knowledge you upgraded to the 4 star hotel. We agreed to pay the difference but actually had to pay for 2 full hotel bills as the second hotel was not booked by us. We agreed to this hefty bill payment from the goodness of our hearts here in our company, a huge gesture on our behalf.
I must point out that your itinerary lists all hotels and the Cusco hotel was the sole 3 star hotel. I suspect you had built an expectation from the 3.5 and 4 star hotels prior to your Cusco arrival and on that basis saw the Cusco hotel in a lesser light. I can only say the Cusco hotel is a fine 3 star hotel, it was sold as such and its online reviews will bear testament to that.

Our hotels in 3, 4 and 5 star categories are personally visited and inspected by us for location, quality, cleanliness and service on a tri- annual basis.
